Elden Ring fans are still waiting on a release date for the fantasy-action role playing game, and they've been busy trying to pass the time until a major announcement arrives from developer FromSoftware. For a short while fans were tuned into a series of Elden Ring leaks which turned out to be fake, all stemming from a leaked gameplay trailer that showed some dragons and a sword-wielding enemy similar to one seen in concept art for the game. Now fans are finding other ways to occupy themselves, and one Elden Ring enthusiast has decided to turn game director Hidetaka Miyazaki into the Terminator.
Miyazaki is the president of FromSoftware and the mind behind the Souls series, which Elden Ring reportedly takes some inspiration from. Miyazaki was pivotal to the success of the early Souls series game Demon's Souls, as FromSoftware believed the game would flop and therefore gave Miyazaki some extra creative freedom. Since then, Miyazaki has taken the lead on the highly successful Souls series and has also worked on other games with similar aesthetics and combat, including Bloodborne and 2019 Game of the Year winner Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Though Miyazaki is collaborating with the Game of Thrones series writer George R. R. Martin, Elden Ring fans still believe he is the visionary behind the project and are anxiously awaiting news that will finally give the game a release date. One Elden Ring fan has decided to spend their time waiting by expertly placing Miyazaki's face onto Arnold Schwarzenegger's body in key scenes from the Terminator movies. The result is quite hilarious, and fans can imagine this might be Miyazaki's response to all the leakers of fake Elden Ring news.
Redditor ELDENRING_fan is able to put Miyazaki's face on Schwarzenegger's body through the use of the Reface app, a form of deepfake technology. This technology can basically replace one face with another with pretty realistic results, and its use is becoming more common to make jokes or make bizarre fan wishes a reality. There are plenty of impressive deepfakes out right now, including one that turns Stranger Things star Millie Bobbie Brown into Princess Leia and another that places the cast of 2012's Avengers in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz.
For those that enjoy ELDENRING-fan's creation, the Redditor also has a few other deepfake creations featuring Miyazaki. Other videos place Miyazaki's face onto Keanu Reeves in the John Wick movies and Bruce Lee in several of his famous action movies from the 70's. While it is amusing to see Miyazaki in these situations, Elden Ring's prolonged development is a sign that he probably doesn't have time right now to drop kick bad guys or fight off cyborgs with guns.
Elden Ring is currently in development.
