Though Sony is working to resolve the issues and thanks fans for their patience, the LittleBigPlanet online servers are still down.

A week later, LittleBigPlanet's servers are still offline. While Sony has since thanked fans for their patience while it looks into the issue, there's no sign of the servers being reinstated anytime soon, leaving Sackboy fans around the world saddened.

The LittleBigPlanet series started in 2008 with its first installment, and its most recent main-series release was back in 2014 with LittleBigPlanet 3. However, Sony rejuvenated love for the award-winning series last year with Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Though it was positively reviewed by critics similar to other LittleBigPlanet installments, it changed up the gameplay somewhat. In the eyes of some fans, LittleBigPlanet has never performed as well as it did with the original game, which some fans theorize is the possible reasoning behind a recent DDoS attack.

As first reported by Eurogamer, LittleBigPlanet's servers were taken offline following a DDoS attack allegedly headed by an upset fan. According to fans that spoke to Eurogamer, the attack was orchestrated by someone unhappy with Sony's direction and general treatment of the franchise, though no other specifics are currently available. The DDoS attack affected community-made content in the LittleBigPlanet franchise aside from the original game's version ported to the PS Vita.

On Twitter, Sony acknowledged the issue and thanked fans for their patience as the servers remain offline. The developer cites the disturbance as "technical issues" and a tweet from the official LittleBigPlanet Twitter says that the developers hope to have the issue resolved by the end of the month. While this confirms that the Japanese giant is working on a solution, it doesn't acknowledge that the issues likely stem from an alleged DDoS attack by a disgruntled fan.

Some believe that this same fan is responsible for a previous takedown of Sony's official LittleBigPlanet social media site, which went offline last November and has remained down since. While Steven Isbell said on Twitter that the developers had no plans to shut down the servers and that the site was simply down for maintenance, five months later, the social media site is inaccessible.

Unfortunately, some fans believe this might be Sony's way of quietly shutting down the servers due to the lack of closure regarding the LittleBigPlanet's social media site. Though Sony claimed it was down due to server maintenance, some fans now believe this to be a lie. However, in regards to the DDoS attack, hopefully, this isn't the case and servers will be up and running soon.

LittleBigPlanet 3 is available now on PS3 and PS4.
