When Square Enix revealed its upcoming project developed by Luminous Productions called Project Athia, fans were quick to notice that this was in fact a working title. In the months to follow, the exciting project would fall into obscurity, but the hype for it returned almost immediately when Square Enix showed it again at March's Square Enix Presents. Closing out an already impressive show, Project Athia was given an official name and fans were able to see more details about characters, story, and setting. Forspoken will release sometime in 2022 on PS5 and PC. That isn't the only thing revealed, however.
The presentation was given by Ella Balinska, who revealed herself to be the motion capture and voice actor for Forspoken's main character, Frey. Beyond her name, players don't get to see much more, but they do get to see her in action a bit. There's also a short scene from the game's story shown as well as snippets of gameplay here and there at the end of the presentation.

Fans have seen Frey before, albeit briefly, but now they know her name and just a little bit more about her goal. Frey is described as a "young woman in a beautiful, yet threatening, world" by Balinska, and she claims to have connected with the character very early on in her work as her voice actor. In the small bit of story content that is shown, fans see that Frey is not above cussing, exclaiming "Is that a motherf***ing dragon" when she sees a large beast in the distance.
What's more, there is a second voice in the trailer that talks with Frey, and the two seem to hold conversations together. There's no indication of where this voice is coming from since there's no other people in the area, so it's likely either in her head or emanating from one of her distinctive pieces of gear such as the bracelet she wears around her arm. From the gameplay shown after the name reveal, fans know that Frey is incredibly agile, leaping around and traversing Forspoken's open world with ease. She also has combat capabilities of her own and can employ some kind of magic as well.
Now that fans have an official name, hopefully Square Enix will continue to show more of Forspoken in the future. Although it is possible more news will come before then, there will be another Square Enix Presents hosted this Summer. Eager fans should be sure to check it out when the time comes, and follow social media channels for Forspoken as well.
Forspoken releases in 2022 for PC and PS5.
