Resident Evil Village is just around the corner, with its release less than two months away. Although there are still many details about the game being kept under wraps, Capcom has treated fans with numerous trailers, previews, and even a playable demo to give them a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming game.
Given that Resident Evil Village is shaping up to be one of the hottest horror games of the year, it is unsurprising that theories on specific details of its story keep surfacing online. Although it remains to be seen how the game's plot would play out, here are some of the craziest yet convincing theories about Resident Evil Village.

In one of Resident Evil Village's trailers, Capcom revealed a new character called Lady Dimitrescu, who has since captured the Resident Evil fanbase's interest. Alongside Dimitrescu is what appears to be a coven of female vampires, and some believe that one of them could be Claire Redfield. Of course, while this theory remains unlikely, one of the vampire women shown in the trailer does resemble Claire a little. Assuming that this theory is true, it would explain why Chris Redfield has been depicted as a villain in the past trailers, given that he could be doing bad things to save his sister.
Some believe that Lady Dimitrescu specifically targeted Claire to force Chris to do her evil work. It was mentioned in the trailer that Dimitrescu is involved in a ritual that could involve Ethan and Mia Winters' baby. The trailer also showed Chris holding the baby, and it is possible that he kidnapped the daughter of Ethan in exchange for Claire. While this theory is quite convincing, it remains to be seen whether there is some shred of truth to it once the game releases.
Another significant theory currently swirling online is that Chris Redfield is infected by whichever virus or parasite the game will revolve around. Although Capcom made no comments regarding Chris's possible infection, the developer released a cryptic photo suggesting that the rumor is true. In the said photo, Chris is seen with half of his face resembling a werewolf, which strengthened the speculation that he is infected and under control by the game's true villains. It is worth remembering that protagonists getting infected are nothing new to the franchise, given that both Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy suffered from the same fate.
When Capcom revealed Lady Dimitrescu, many were surprised with how tall she is. Capcom later confirmed that Lady Dimitrescu is 9'6" tall, making her larger than some of Resident Evil's tyrants, such as Nemesis and Mr. X. Currently, many believe that she is a vampire. However, how exactly she became one remains a mystery. However, some also think that Lady Dimitrescu is a tyrant, which explains her enormous height. However, assuming that this is true, then Lady Dimitrescu might be the most advanced tyrant in the game so far, given that she appears to have a unique personality and some human traits.
Before Capcom's announcement that Ethan and Mia Winters will be returning in Resident Evil Village, many thought that Resident Evil would be their last. However, it has been made clear now that during the time between Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, Ethan and Mia had a baby, who will play an essential role in the upcoming game. According to theories, Mia Winters herself is related to either Lady Dimitrescu or one of the women in her coven.
Although this is a possibility, the likeliest explanation regarding the involvement of Ethan and Mia's daughter might have something to do with Mia herself. It is worth remembering that in Resident Evil 7, Mia Winters was infected with the Mold. It was also heavily implied that Ethan could have been infected as well, but this remains unclear. Towards the end of the game, Ethan was able to cure Mia of her infection. Despite this, remnants of the Mold or some other unique attributes were likely passed over to Mia's daughter, making her a key element in whatever ritual Lady Dimutrescu is planning to do.
Resident Evil Village is releasing on May 7, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.
