Cyberpunk 2077 has had a considerably mixed reception since releasing in December 2020. Despite the incredible sales success of developer CD Projekt Red's lasted RPG, Cyberpunk 2077's release is still plagued with bugs. While some are game breaking and others immersion disrupting, the most common are often harmless graphical and behavioral problems that litter the dense streets of Night City. In this case, it definitely seems there is a NPC who is not sure how to handle a combat situation.
With Cyberpunk 2077's Night City being a haven for the lawless, it means random gun, katana, mantis blade, or guerilla arm fights are pretty much a given of the gameplay experience. So with most NPCs already out to take down protagonist V, it's always a battle for survival. At least, it should be when the AI is raring for a fight and not a showboating contest.

Redditor Daniggmu posted on the Cyberpunk subreddit with the apt title of "What the hell are you doing?" Daniggmu captured a mesmerizing moment of one of Cyberpunk 2077's hostile NPCs trying desperately to find an opening. The 30 second clip sees Daniggmu in a stationary position while an enemy weaves in and out in what can only be described as a one-sided battle. Essentially, the aggro NPC continuously weaves in thinking V is about to shoot them, thus attempting to dodge the impending bullet. In this case, the NPC opts for sublime defense instead of any kind of offense. Even Daniggmu is confused enough to turn completely around, only to look back to realize the enemy was still weaving back and forth.
It is hard to say what exactly prompted this NPC to fear the repercussions of a counterattack, but for many fans it is just another moment in a game filled with similar glitches. The Cyberpunk subreddit is filled with clips that strike a similar level of bafflement as Daniggmu expressed. Cyberpunk 2077 features many funny glitches that have made their way into numerous compilations. Thanks in part to the sharing features of consoles, it is easier than ever for fans to upload their wild discoveries.
As funny as Daniggmu's video is, it only speaks to one of the more innocuous problems that are found throughout Cyberpunk 2077's rough launch. Upon release, fans were warned about game-breaking bugs in Cyberpunk 2077. Beyond just that, the game was considered close to unplayable on previous generation hardware with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions suffering greatly due to tech limitations.
Now over 3 months since releasing in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 will be getting its second major post-release patch with the 1.2 update. CD Projekt Red was forced to delay the patch due to the developer and publisher suffering a cyber attack though after a month long delay, the patch will finally be releasing soon to hopefully fix the AI so they will opt to attack instead of consistently dodge.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series console upgrades are currently in development.
