Monster Hunter Rise was officially announced in September 2020 during a Nintendo Direct presentation. The trailer revealed a number of monsters including Aknosom, Tetranadon, Great Izuchi, and the new flagship monster Magnamalo. Gameplay details were also included as fans were introduced to the new wall-climbing mechanics and a grappling hook ability powered by Wirebugs. Fans also caught a glimpse of Palamute, the new companion in Monster Hunter Rise. A week later, Capcom revealed a similar trailer for Monster Hunter Rise at the 2020 Tokyo Game Show. While the new trailer was nearly identical, it also confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise would share crossover bonuses with Monster Hunter Stories 2.

A few months later, Capcom revealed a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise at The Game Awards 2020. Featuring a more in-depth look at Kamura village and the various facilities available to hunters, fans were able to catch a glimpse of the colorful NPCs along with a new owl pet to help with quests. The trailer also revealed two new monsters: Somnacanth and Bishaten along with returning monsters Royal Ludroth and the Great Wroggi.

Capcom released the Wyvern Riding Trailer for Monster Hunter Rise earlier this year alongside a new demo in the Nintendo eShop. The trailer showcases the new mechanic that allows players to take control of a large monster with the Wirebug to aid them in battle. While riding a monster, players can perform evasive maneuvers or charge up a Wyvern Riding gauge to unleash a powerful attack called the "Mounted Punisher".

The Rampage Trailer for Monster Hunter Rise showcased the brand new survival game mode where players must defend the base village from waves of attacking monsters. The trailer also revealed that players had the ability to setup siege weapons before and during the attack as well as directing NPCs to help. Stronger monster counterparts known as Apexes will also appear during Rampage and will serve as the boss of the attacking hordes.

The Kamura's Hope Trailer was the most recent trailer for Monster Hunter Rise and it revealed the first free title update DLC for the game. Arriving at the end of April a month after its initial release, the update will bring the return of Chameleos along with several new monsters. A good summary of all the previous trailers, this one showcases the cast of characters, weapons, environments, and the Rampage game mode in more detail. The Kamura's Hope Trailer also includes the return of Zinogre and Nargacuga which should be familiar to longtime fans of the series.

Monster Hunter Rise is set to launch for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021 with a PC release slated for 2022.
