The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is one of the best examples of a game benefitting from the Nintendo Switch Pro rumors.

Nintendo is riding high on its success lately, with the extremely popular Switch. The hybrid console continues to receive support by means of regular exclusives and third-party ports like Doom Eternal, and is well on its way to reaching the 100-million sales unit mark.

The rumor mill continues to churn about a new console and fans are receiving constant rumor updates about an upgraded Nintendo Switch, the fan-named Super Switch or Switch Pro. It seems that the rumors have some solid backing points now, with Samsung seemingly suggesting it is making OLED screens for the console. Fans are already delighted at the possibilities and titles that might come with the upgraded console, and it seems that Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is a great example of a title benefitting the most from the hardware upgrades.

Nintendo is known for making games with a strong technical framework, which ensures the end-product has a steady framerate at all times. Super Mario Odyssey runs like a charm at 60 fps on the Switch, with almost no drops at all times. However, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild proved to a very different beast in comparison to other titles.

The expansive kingdom of Hyrule coupled with the plethora of game systems taxed the system's CPU and GPU equally hard, which can be too much at times. This results in inconsistent framerates with stretches of framerate drops in certain conditions. In addition to this, texture pop-in can also be a glaring issue at times which can detract quite a lot from the experience. Although this doesn't imply that the game is unplayable, improvements to the experience would be well-appreciated.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is sure to build upon its predecessor, in terms of gameplay possibilities and the sense of scale. The technical performance of the first game doesn't bode extremely well for the sequel, at least in this regard, and fans are equally curious to know more about it. However, if the rumors revolving around the Super Switch are true, it could definitely prove a viable solution to the problems at hand.

The increased power of the upgraded handheld should easily help in rendering the game easily without any hiccups. In addition to this, many fans are speculating that future exclusive games would even have the option of a 60 fps mode for players who want fluidity in combat and a 30 fps mode for players wishing for better visuals. The docked mode of the Switch could only push a maximum of 900p resolution for the first game, and it can look fairly muddy on a 4K TV. The increased power of the Super Switch could do wonders here, outputting up to an upscaled 4K.

Rumors also suggest that the game may launch alongside the Super Switch, which can also be a great thing. Superior experience on the upgraded console would definitely provide many gamers enough reason to invest in the console at launch.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch.
