Fallout 76's C.A.M.P. Slots Encourage a Creativity the Game Should've Always Had

The newest Fallout 76 update allows players to have multiple C.A.M.P. slots, and it encourages a creativity the game has needed from the start.

Bethesda is still hard at work creating new content and features for Fallout 76, slowly making the game a heck of a lot better than it was at launch. Each new Fallout 76 update improved it slightly, until the Wastelanders and Steel Dawn expansions set the bar even higher and made the game an experience that sucked a lot of players back into the wild Appalachia.

While the latest Fallout 76 update wasn't quite so sweeping, it did add one very nice feature that probably should have been in the game from the start: the ability to create multiple C.A.M.P.'s. Previously, players had to be very selective about where they placed a C.A.M.P., because it was the only one they had. It basically had to fulfill every function the player needed, as well as be as cosmetically appealing as they could muster. Pulling off that combo while still putting the C.A.M.P. in a useful location in the world could prove difficult.

Thanks to the continued evolution of Fallout 76, that's no longer a problem. Every single C.A.M.P. a player builds doesn't have to be this all impressive, multifunctioning monolith that fulfills everything a player could possibly need. Maybe it's just a shack and a workbench tactically placed somewhere on the map so the player can repair something on the go.

This really enables players to be free with making forward camps to fit any of their needs on the go, without having to fast travel back to their C.A.M.P., and then back to where they need to be for a Quest or back to exploring. It's not only going to be a time-saver, but it's going to save on some caps, because players won't need to spend those caps fast traveling all of the time, anymore.

Players can now build a shop somewhere in the world for other players to interact with (or solve a math-puzzle in order to stay alive), and not have to make that their home, too. This is not only going to allow players to make a shop more expansive because it won't have to be a combo shop/home, but it'll also allow for players to easily set up shop in multiple locations, depending on where they want one to be that day. They can create a kind of corporate chain of shops, letting players transition from roleplaying as a small business owner to a ruthless corporate tycoon.

The ability to have multiple C.A.M.P. slots really lets people get creative in trying new stuff out, as well. Players can just find a place, have a cool idea for a crazy C.A.M.P. that could go there, and give it a go. Whether it works out or not, it doesn't matter; they didn't have to tear down their old C.A.M.P. to do it. Now, some C.A.M.P. locationss can be built purely for the pleasure of building it, and for making a place that looks really nice. That's the kind of creativity that a game like Fallout 76 needed. It's finally here, and it's something that just about everybody who plays the game is going to have a lot of fun with.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
