Indie developer Iron Gate Studio released Valheim almost two months ago, and players have been enjoying its malleable world. Valheim is inspired by Norse mythology, but that hasn't stopped a dedicated modder from being inspired by a different high-fantasy world and bringing The Elder Scroll's Tamriel to the game.
With Valheim's flexibility, players have made all sorts of interesting and unique creations. Players have made a version of Sauron's Tower from Lord of the Rings, Thomas the Tank Engine, an in-game version of beer pong, and one Valheim player even created a US Navy warship in the game. Valheim was also created with mods in mind in order to give players more control over the game, and some have influenced how the world layout itself is generated.

One modder, Vonbait, took the time to create a Valheim world save directly inspired by the continent of Tamriel from The Elder Scrolls. While it isn't a 1:1 comparison, players will immediately recognize the layout of the continent. Any player who downloads the map themselves will be dropped off around where the Imperial City is in Cyrodiil.
Another aspect of this mod is how it handles the game's different biomes. All the biomes in Valheim are available on the main continent of Tamriel, unlike most regular starting seeds for the game. Players will mostly find Meadows and Black Forests throughout the map, plus bits of Mountains and Swamps. Plains represent the desert areas of Hammerfell and Northern Elsweyr, and huge mountain ranges separate Skyrim from the rest of Tamriel. The Black Marsh area is dominated by the Swamp biome, and Morrowind is where players will find the fiery Ashlands biome.
The amount of work put into the world save mod is incredible, and Vonbait says they will continue to improve the mod when they can, hoping to "add missing islands like Pyandonea, the remnants of Yokuda and maybe a bit of Atmora in the far north." While any player who wants to explore this version of Tamriel will have to install different mods for Valheim, the main one is the Better Continents mod. The entire process to bring Tamriel to Valheim can be found on Nexus Mods.
In any case, the imagination of Valheim players is nowhere near spent. Iron Gate Studio is working to develop the Hearth and Home update for Valheim, which will soon give players numerous additional options for creative builds. Since it looks like Valheim will intrigue players for possibly years to come, fans can expect more cool builds and mods to be developed.
Valheim is available in Early Access on Steam.
