Stardew Valley's Sunfish is important to completing Bundles found in the Community Center but is otherwise an insignificant fish with few uses.

The Sunfish is a common fish that appears in Stardew Valley. It's also used to complete Bundles at the Fish Tank in the Community Center, but it won't sell for much.

Fishing in Stardew Valley is a great way to earn gold early on in a playthrough, though in later-game, players will be able to rely on their crops for the bulk of their income. However, some players choose to do a Farm Pond challenge with Stardew Valley playthroughs, where the entire farm consists mostly of the Farm Pond buildings. The Pond allows players to populate one fish species and produces roe, but at higher population counts, fish will produce rarer items like Warp Totems and Prismatic Shards. A Pond consisting of 10 Sunfish can produce Solar Essense.

The Sunfish is not difficult to find or catch. It's a river fish, so it can be found either in the rivers of Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest next to Marnie's and Leah's, however, it can also be caught on the Riverlands Farm or Hill-top Farm layouts. The Sunfish can only be caught during the Spring and Summer on sunny or windy days between the times of 6 AM and 7 PM. Sunfish can also sometimes be purchased from the Traveling Cart or found in garbage cans, but affinity levels with NPCs will decrease if they catch the farmer digging through the trash.

Players will find that the most use the Sunfish has is to complete the River Fish Bundle at the Fish Tank in the Community Center, which also consists of a Catfish, Shad, and Tiger Trout. Among this list, the Sunfish is easier to find. The reward for completing the River Fish Bundle is 30 Bait, and for completing the Fish Tank in the Community Center, the Junimos will remove the Glittering Boulder next to the Mines on the northern side of Pelican Town.

Stardew Valley players can also learn the Baked Fish recipe from The Queen of Sauce on 7 Summer in the first year. The recipe consists of a Sunfish, Bream, and Wheat Flour, but it doesn't restore as much health and stamina as Maki Rolls, which uses any fish, Seaweed, and Rice.

Villagers in Stardew Valley will sometimes request a Sunfish during Spring and Summer, and it can also be used to craft a dyeable Fish Shirt with a sewing machine. This fish isn't good as a gift as no villagers like the item; all dislike, hate, or feel neutrally about Sunfish.

Stardew Valley is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
