Bunny Day will return in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in just a few days, but players can start the proceedings by finding eggs early.

Bunny Day is almost back in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Bunny Day was the first event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons after it launched in March 2020, so this will be the first time an event comes around a second time. Although the event will not be live until about a week from now, small aspects of Bunny Day are already starting to take place, including egg hunts.

Recently Nintendo set the stage for Bunny Day with an update for New Horizons that took care of a few bugs and opened the door for the Easter-themed event. Although April 4, 2021 is Bunny Day, players may start seeing eggs hidden around the island earlier than that.

The official UK Animal Crossing Twitter page recently posted an update about Bunny Day. While Zipper the Bunny and crew do not start officially celebrating Bunny Day until next Sunday, players will start noticing eggs hidden around the island today. Last year, players were frustrated and tired of Bunny Day before it even began, so hopefully it is more enjoyable this time around.

The problem with last year's Bunny Day for many was that the egg spawning was overbearing, and the reward for finding the eggs were not very exciting. Players could trade them on Bunny Day and create some DIY recipes, but mostly for aesthetic items. Nintendo had a Bunny Day update last year, but it only helped marginally.

Another reason why the Bunny Day egg hunting was not that enjoyable was it replaced much of the standard gameplay for players. With Bunny Day taking place only a few weeks after the launch of the well-reviewed Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there were players whose first experience with the game was digging up or fishing eggs instead of the usual array of creatures and items, and that became obnoxious over time. This year's Bunny Day and egg hunting encounter may be different.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now the second-highest selling Nintendo Switch game of all time, which is impressive given the fact that it released only about a year ago. Only Call of Duty sold better in 2020, which again is remarkable considering Call of Duty sells on multiple platforms and New Horizons is exclusive to the Switch. Part of the reason the game does so well is that Nintendo keeps it updated with ongoing seasonal events, and Bunny Day is just one aspect of that.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Switch.
