Apex Legends has a variety of Legends that do vastly different things in combat, with each character having a place on a given team composition. Of course, some Apex Legends characters rank higher in most tier lists, either do to the game's ever-changing meta or the strength of their abilities in certain situations.
Unfortunately, Rampart has been one Legend that always seems to float close to the bottom of many tier lists, either due to her overall abilities or issues with her kit. Now, one Apex Legends player has posted a video of an apparent bug with Rampart's kit that makes one of her most useful attributes completely useless in certain situations.

The video in question comes from the Apex Legends subreddit and was submitted by a user going by the name GoldGanymede. The video shows the player using Rampart inside the tunnels on Apex Legends' Olympus map which are located behind Hammond Labs. The players gets into a firefight and attempts to place Rampart's amped cover inside the tunnel, but the amped cover prompt remains red. Essentially, it seems that Rampart is unable to place her amped covers anywhere within the two tunnels behind Hammond Labs, making her very vulnerable inside of them.
Now, there has been some debate within the thread on whether or not this is actually a bug or not. Some players are arguing that perhaps Respawn did not want Rampart's cover to work in small spaces for fear of teams turtling inside those tunnels for an extreme advantage. However, multiple other users have claimed that Rampart's covers can be placed in other small tunnels, such as between the main buildings in the Repulsor area of Kings Canyon. Considering Rampart has had glitches and bugs plague her kit before, it's not unlikely that this is indeed an unintended limitation.
If that is the case, it's definitely another knock against Rampart as a viable Legend. Rampart's amped cover tactical ability is undoubtedly one of the strongest aspects of her kit, aside from her ultimate ability. Well placed amped cover combined with excellent environmental positioning and map awareness can make Rampart players forces to be reckoned with. However, when one of her main abilities is limited in certain areas, it makes this difficult to use Legend just that much more unappealing to other players. With any luck, a member of Respawn's development team will see the post and make an official comment on whether or not this is a bug.
Still, many Apex Legends players think its undeniable that Rampart is still in need of buffs to make her a consistent pick among the game's player base. Alternatively, some players think that Rampart simply needs to be reworked from the ground up, as her inherit playstyle does not fit the overall meta of Apex Legends. Regardless of what side players fall on, it seems clear that Respawn has not intention of completely overhauling Rampart. Hopefully, this is indeed a bug and Respawn irons it out as quickly as possible.
Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
