The release of the Outriders PC requirements reveals that players will need an RTX 3080 if they want to run the game on its highest settings.

Players hoping to run Outriders at its highest settings are going to need a rather beefy PC set-up, including an RTX 3080. However, players with lower-spec systems should be okay as well on lower graphical settings.

Outriders is an upcoming looter shooter from People Can Fly and Square Enix. A lot of hype is surrounding the game leading up to its release, with some players putting a crazy amount of time into the Outriders demo. Leading up to the release, the system requirements for the PC version of the game have been released.

The requirements to run the game at its highest settings,  2160p with 60 FPS, definitely will raise some eyebrows. The game requires 70GB of hard drive space with a GTX 750Ti as the minimum requirement, a GTX 1070 8GB for recommended specs, and an RTX 3080 10GB to run the game on ultra. The game can run on 8GB of RAM, but 16GB is recommended. Luckily, Outriders is a bit more lenient on the CPU side of things, only requiring an i5-3470 for low settings, an i7-7700 for recommended, and an i7-10700k for the ultra. Interestingly, the minimum requirements even say that the game can run on DirectX 11.

The system requirements aren't all that surprising for a brand new AAA release in 2021, but they do highlight the struggle that many are having finding the newest line of graphics cards and the new generation of consoles. Luckily, the reasonable requirements for even the recommended specs will make sure that most PC players will be able to get in on Outriders' third-person action when it launches. Hopefully, the lower requirements indicate Outriders being well optimized for PCs, which may help it have a smoother launch than many live service games have such as Marvel's Avengers and Destiny 2.

Outriders will launch into a crowded market of live service games. Live services games have also had a hard time living up to their goals, with games like Anthem and Battleborn both ceasing development long before delivering all of the content they had announced in their initial roadmaps at launch. However, the early reception to Outriders has been overtly positive, with many fans getting invested in the demo and some even already making impressive Outriders cosplay. Only time will tell how well Outriders fairs once it is fully released, but with the positive reception thus far, it is safe to say that the game will at least find its own devoted niche audience at the very least.

Outriders is set to release on April 1st for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
