Gearbox announces the first Vault Card of the latest update of Borderlands 3 Director's Cut which introduces Diamond Keys to access rare loot.

As part of the Director's Cut add-on, Borderlands 3 will now have additional content which includes Vault Cards and the new Diamond Keys. These keys give players access to loot that is far better than what Golden Chests have to offer. The Director's Cut can either be purchased individually or it can come as part of the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition or the Season Pass 2 which was released last November.

Gearbox has been postponing the long-awaited Director's Cut add-on due to complications related to the weather crisis in Texas which caused power outages. Unfortunately, this was made worse by the COVID-19 situation, since workers have to work from home, further delaying the release of the extra content on the Director's Cut. Despite the setbacks, Borderlands 3 Director's Cut was postponed only a few weeks as it was originally programmed to be released in March but will now be available on April 8.

Vault Cards will introduce Diamond Keys are super rare but they are definitely worth scoring. Instead of granting access to a special chest as Golden Keys do, Diamond Keys open a full room with amazing loot. However, once the room is opened, there is a limited amount of time to grab one item per wall. Once the time is up, the room closes, leaving the rest of the loot behind for good. Fortunately, if time runs out before making a decision, a random item will be picked for the player. Furthermore, the player is guaranteed to get one of Borderland's coveted legendary items from the loot each time.

The first Vault Card, Fallen Heroes, will be available as soon as the Director's Cut add-on is out and it will include heads, gear, and skins for both weapons and characters. There will be a total of three Vault Cards following a theme, and all of them will be launched this year. Although the specific release date is yet to be announced, Gearbox probably has more surprises planned for its fans.

With Vault Cards come daily and weekly challenges that, when completed, help players level-up their cards. Daily challenges will be updated every day at 9:00 PT, while weekly challenges refresh Thursdays at 9:00 PT. The challenges will update whether the previous challenges were completed or not. According to the official Borderlands site, there are a total of 100 possible challenges that Vault Cards can draw from. Each level-up comes with a Vault Card Chest which can grant new items including gear, Eridium, one of the special Diamond Key, or more skins for every Vault Hunter in Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
