Like with many games at the start of April, Pokemon GO will be celebrating April Fools Day with a special event. This event is the Tricky Pokemon 2021 event, which will only be available on April 1st, 2021.
The Tricky Pokemon 2021 event is focused on a select group of Pokemon known for causing trouble in the world of Pokemon, as well as in Pokemon GO. These Pokemon are Aipom from the Johto region, Croagunk from the Sinnoh region, and Purrloin from the Unova region.

This event is only available for a short period of time, but it does have timed research tasks that players can complete. Luckily for players, the timed research's time limit actually goes past the end time for the Tricky Pokemon 2021 event. Because of this, players will have from April 1st to April 8th to complete the tasks given to them.
There is only one step to the Tricky Pokemon 2021 timed research tasks, but all of the tasks in the step have the potential to cost players a lot of time overall to complete. They are all themed around challenging Team GO Rocket members and catching Shadow Pokemon. These tasks and their rewards are:
Defeat six Team GO Rocket Grunts - 100 XP
Defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader one time - 100 XP
Catch five Shadow Pokemon - 100 XP
While the small amounts of XP gained from these tasks may not seem worth it, the real reward comes when players complete the entire step. This will earn players 100 more XP, 100 Stardust, and a Super Rocket Radar. The Super Rocket Radar is needed in order for players to track down and challenge Giovanni, the boss of Team GO Rocket.
At this time, it is very worth challenging Giovanni with him having Shadow Zapdos on his team for the month of April. If players defeat him, they will be able to attempt to catch Shadow Zapdos and use it on their own teams.
If players challenge Team GO Rocket grunts during the actual Tricky Pokemon 2021 event, they will find that their only Pokemon will be Shadow Aipom. With Aipom being a pure Normal-type, players can use whatever powerful Fighting-type Pokemon they have to quickly mow through the various Team GO Rocket grunts as they go through the timed research tasks. Their parties however will likely return to normal after April Fools Day, so players should plan accordingly.
While Team GO Rocket Grunts will have different parties during April Fools Day, the leaders of Team GO Rocket and Giovanni will not. This means that players cannot challenge them and expect an easy battle with only Aipom to worry about.
