Destiny's new Proving Grounds Strike on Grandmaster difficulty is a difficult task for any fireteam to accomplish if they attempt this unprepared.

Destiny 2’s Nightfall: The Ordeal Strikes on Grandmaster difficulty are possibly one of the most difficult things a three-Guardian fireteam can attempt. As one of the pinnacle end game activities in Destiny 2, Grandmaster Nightfall: The Ordeal requires Guardians to coordinate heavily with their fireteam to see success.

Guardians who complete the Nightfall: The Ordeal on Grandmaster difficulty will be granted better drop rates on some of the endgame materials and Nightfall weapons. Grandmaster Difficulty also grants a chance at an Adept version of the Nightfall exclusive weapons such as The Palindrome.

The new Proving Grounds Nightfall Strike on Grandmaster difficulty will require coordination and the appropriate gear and mods. One of the most effective fireteam setups includes two Sentinel Titans with the Ursa Furiosa Exotic Gauntlets. A Hunter with the new Exotic Chest Armor, Omnioculous is great for keeping the team invisible and increasing damage resistance.

The current Proving Grounds Grandmaster Nightfall has Barrier and Unstoppable Champions so guardians will need to equip Anti-Barrier and Unstoppable Mods from the Seasonal Artifact. Anti-Barrier works for Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles while Unstoppable works with Hand Cannons and Pulse Rifles during Season of the Chosen.

Guardians will want to min-max their mod slots and armor stats as much as possible. Chest armor will need to have Concussive Dampener and Solar Damage Resistance. If Guardians are not running a Solar-based Chest Armor, they can run two Concussive Dampener mods or reserve a slot for an Ammo Reserves mod.

Charged with Light Mods give Guardians access to the Protective Light Mod, which should be used whenever possible. Taking Charge, Stacks on Stacks, and Supercharged is an excellent combination of mods to keep a high number of Charged with Light stacks to increase the damage resistance granted by Protective Light.

Fireteams with two Sentinel Titans with Ursa Furiosa can chain their Sentinel Barricades back-to-back while producing countless orbs to feed the Charged with Light mods. The Hunter should run a bottom tree Nightstalker with the new Omnioculous Chest Armor to keep their fireteam invisible and increase their damage resistance. Fireteams can exchange one of the Sentinel Titans for a Well of Radiance Warlock with the Phoenix Protocol Exotic Chest Armor.

Guardians will start this Grandmaster Nightfall at a Battlegrounds site on Nessus. Do not engage the Cabal straight ahead, go left and climb the rocks for cover. Staying in the rocky area, Guardians will be able to single out the Champions in this area. There is an Unstoppable Champion near the very beginning that may get stuck fighting some Vex, but it should make its way up the hill.

Guardians should stay on the left side of the map that leads up to the barricaded area at the entrance of the Land Tank. Once all the enemies are defeated, a mini-boss will exit the tank and join the fight alongside some more enemies and Champions. On the left side of the arena is some cover and a good place to work on taking out the Champions. Once all the Champions and enemies are defeated, Guardians can focus on the mini-boss.

When the mini-boss takes enough damage, they will shelter themselves within an orange bubble. Guardians will need to destroy the mechanism in the center of the bubble to deactivate it. A Skyburners Oath Exotic Scout Rifle without Anti-Barrier rounds can shoot through the bubble to damage the mechanism. The Hunter can go invisible and throw a grenade on the mechanism and quickly evade. When the bubble falls, Guardians can finish the mini-boss and proceed inside the Land Tank.

Follow the path through the tank until Guardians reach a square in the floor that drops Guardians into the Vehicle Bay. In the Vehicle Bay, Guardian’s will want to chain the Sentinel Titan Banner Shields back-to-back with the Exotic Ursa Furiosa providing Orbs of Power. The Hunter will want to use their Super as much as possible while also dropping their Smoke Grenade at their feet to keep their team invisible while killing enemies. Coordinating and shooting the same Champions together is a must or the Barrier Champions will regenerate their health.

Two waves of enemies will spawn in the Vehicle Bay, the second wave will include two Goliath Tanks that will need to be focused and taken down as quickly as possible. When both tanks and all the Champions are defeated, Guardians should finish any remaining enemies and continue to the next encounter.

When Guardians fall through the Land Tank and they will need to clear all the enemies and Champions before trying to grab the power orb. After all the enemies are defeated, one Guardian will want to drop down on the platform and collect the orb but immediately drop it. Grabbing the power orb will trigger another wave of enemies to come from a newly opened door.

As players push into the room and continue clearing enemies, a Hunter super in the door will help to further control the battle for easy kills. When all the enemies are defeated, go back for the power orb and insert it into the device on the right of the room. Progress across the room to the next area with another power orb. Repeat the process from the first orb, clearing all the enemies before grabbing the orb and spawning another wave on enemies.

When the second wave of enemies is defeated, grab the second power orb and insert it into the other device in the center room to open the door. There will be more Champions and enemies to defeat. Clear this next room of enemies before stepping on the circular plate in the center to rise into the final boss room.

There are a few phases to the final boss, Ignovun, in this Grandmaster Nightfall. During the first phase, Guardians will want to stay in the first part of the room, placing their Titan Sentinel Banner Shield between the two Cabal barricades. Guardians will want to chain their Titan Supers while the Hunter works on damaging Ignovun and killing low-level enemies. Hunters should use their super against the enemies and drop Smoke Bombs on their Fireteam for increased damage resistance from Omnioculus.

After the first phase, Ignovun will spawn an orange bubble around themselves while two Champions spawn onto the map. Guardians need to rotate to the back of the arena into one corner on the left or right. Guardians will need to focus on the Champions and any remaining low-level enemies. While the boss has a bubble up, they will shoot orange fireballs at Guardians. Guardians will need to shoot these, or risk being killed.

When the two Champions and the rest of the enemies are defeated, Guardians can work on taking down the bubble by destroying the mechanism in the middle of it. After the bubble drops, Guardians will want to focus on damaging Ignovun, there should not be any other enemies at this time. Once the boss reaches their final health bar, the last phase begins.

During the last phase of this Proving Grounds encounter, Ignovun will move to the back of the arena on top of their circular platform and raise another orange bubble around themselves. Guardians should rotate back to the front of the area where they were during the first phase. Two more Champions will spawn and follow Guardians to the front of the arena.

While at the front of the arena, Ignovun's fireballs will be too far away to track Guardians which makes it a good time to kill all the remaining enemies and the two Champions. When the arena is clear of enemies, Guardians can once again focus on destroying the boss’s bubble. Utilize the tunnel under the boss to prevent the fireballs from doing unnecessary damage.

When the Ignovun’s final bubble is taken down, more enemies will spawn and Ignovun will start rushing towards Guardians. This is the time Guardians should use all their abilities to clear out all the low-level enemies. When the rest of the enemies are defeated, Guardians will be clear to focus on the boss and finally defeat them and finish this Grandmaster Nightfall: The Ordeal.
