The Halo and Xbox social media accounts are quick to debunk a new rumor that claimed the Halo Infinite release date was delayed yet again.

When Microsoft first showcased the Xbox Series X, it positioned Halo Infinite as the console's flagship launch title. Following a negative reaction to the Halo Infinite reveal trailer, the decision was made to delay the game outside of the Xbox Series X's launch window, pushing it to fall 2021. There were rumors that the Halo Infinite release date was going to get pushed back yet again, but those rumors have since been debunked.

It seems that the rumors stemmed from a fake Twitter account, which was later reported on by Kotaku. Kotaku then realized that the account was fake, and issued a statement clarifying that Halo Infinite is not really delayed. The official Xbox Twitter account replied to Kotaku's tweet, as did the account for the Halo brand. With it being April Fools' Day, though, fans should be on the lookout for more tricks like this.

While the Halo Infinite delay rumors turned out to be untrue, it's safe to say many fans are anxious to learn when exactly they'll get to play the next game in the long-running FPS franchise. Unfortunately, there's no official word on when that may be, but a Halo Infinite actor let slip that the game is apparently aiming for release in November. Most Halo games have released in November, so this would make sense, but fans should still wait for an official announcement before marking their calendars.

There are plans for Halo Infinite to have multiple betas throughout 2021, so there's a good chance fans will get to play the game well before its release date. More specific details on what fans can expect from the Halo Infinite betas haven't been revealed at the time of this writing, but it's possible that information will come with one of the monthly updates that 343 has released for the game. Alternatively, more information on the betas could be saved for Microsoft's summer event.

Details are scarce, but it's been confirmed that Microsoft is planning a summer event where it will showcase Xbox Series X games. This is presumed to be Microsoft's equivalent to its annual E3 event, though what's not clear is if the company will be premiering the event at E3 2021 or through a different venue. More information will come to light in the months ahead.

While fans wait for more information on Halo Infinite's betas and release date, they can look forward to regular updates on its progress by 343 Industries. Most recently, 343 revealed Halo Infinite's Skewer weapon and also released some information what to expect from the game's audio.

Halo Infinite will launch fall 2021 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
