It's April, which means cherry blossoms and a variety of new items for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to add to their collections.

It's been over a year since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch, and that means the game's various events are coming back in season. As of April 1, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will notice that their island is looking quite a bit different, as cherry blossoms are back in season, giving them the chance to collect petals and craft special furniture and other recipes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossoms will be available from now until April 10, so fans of the game have a very limited window to collect the petals. To collect cherry blossom petals in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players need to make sure they have a bug catching net equipped. And then when they are exploring their island, they will potentially see the petals floating in the air. Swing at the petals with the net just like one would do when catching bugs to snag them.

Besides cherry blossoms, there's plenty more for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to look forward to in April as well. The game will be adding some fresh items to buy, with the Forsythia plant currently available to purchase from the Nook Shopping app as part of the Singmoli item collection. Like the cherry blossoms, the Singmoli items will only be available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons until April 10, so fans should keep that in mind while doing their in-game shopping.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will also notice that prom-themed items have been added to the game. For the entire month of April, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can purchase prom items from both Nook Shopping and the Able Sisters. Players have a bit more time to collect the Animal Crossing: New Horizons prom items than they do cherry blossoms or the Singmoli items, but they're still on a timer. Of course, at least some of the items should cycle back into the game next year, but that's quite the long wait.

In the meantime, some diehard Animal Crossing: New Horizons players may be wondering when the game will be getting more substantial updates. Nintendo has not announced any plans for any new big Animal Crossing: New Horizons updates for later in 2021, and it's quite possible that the development team is moving on to other projects. After all, a new Nintendo Switch console is rumored to be in development, and that could get a big sales boost if it had an Animal Crossing game of its own.

Whether or not Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting anymore big updates remains to be seen, but there should be enough content in the game to keep fans busy for some time to come.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
