After the first major update to Fortnite's newest season earlier this week, fans notice some significant changes to two polarizing weapons.

Chapter 2 Season 6 of Fortnite has been arguably the most ambitious season yet for the hit battle royale game. Introducing an all-new weapon crafting mechanic, bringing all sorts of wildlife to the island, and loading the map up with new POI's, weapons, NPCs, and more, many fans feel that the game has had new life breathed into it. However, that's not to say Fortnite's latest season has been perfect.

While early on players encountered bugs that made it difficult to see in the storm or gave them unlimited amounts of health, the first major update for Chapter 2 Season 6 dropped two days ago. Aside from fixing bugs and adding new Raptors to the Fortnite island, Epic Games also introduced adjustments to two of the game's most polarizing weapons.

Over on Twitter, popular Fortnite leaker HYPEX tweeted some datamined statistics on the Mechanical Shotgun and Primal Shotgun weapons. In the tweet, HYPEX noted that the Primal Shotgun received a slight nerf, bumping its fire rate from 2.7 to 2.3, making players wait a bit longer between firing shots. However, the Makeshift Shotgun received a number of buffs, making it faster to equip, increasing its ammo slots from two to three, and making it five percent faster to reload.

Since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6, players have expressed that the Primal Shotgun felt overpowered, offering a large clip size, a fast fire rate, and two-round bursts. In some situations, the Primal Shotgun could overpower almost any other close-ranged weapon. In terms of the Makeshift Shotgun, which can be upgraded to either a Primal Shotgun or a Pump Shotgun, it made sense this wasn't the most powerful weapon. However, fans expressed that only having two ammo slots and a slow reload made the weapon difficult to use, especially as it is one of the most common weapons in the game. Now, with the new buffs, fans argue that the Makeshift Shotgun could help players hold their own in fights.

Primal and Makeshift Weapons are some of the brand new additions to Fortnite Season 6. With Makeshift Weapons, players can scavenge for mechanical parts in order to craft them into a Mechanical Weapon of the next highest rarity. Additionally, Players can scavenge for Animal Bones to craft Makeshift Weapons into a Primal Weapon.

It's worth noting that players will now have to collect six Animal Bones instead of four to upgrade a Makeshift Shotgun to a Primal Shotgun of either Epic or Legendary rarity. Fortnite's newest season is still fairly new, so as it grows and develops, it will certainly be interesting to see what else Epic Games decides to change down the line.

Fortnite is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
