When fighting one-on-one in Mortal Kombat, characters have special dialogue with their opponent at the start of the match. These voice clips change depending on which characters are in play –sometimes they refer to the history between the two characters, and other times they are just funny quips.

Mortal Kombat 11 features a huge number of playable characters, including fan favorites as well as new combatants created for the game. Some characters have more than one unique piece of dialogue with others, including in mirror matches, so if you want to see these interactions in-game be prepared to play a few matches.
10 Cassie Vs. Kollector
Cassie Cage is the spunky daughter of Johnny Cage, and while she might pack a punch, she doesn't hit her opponents with punchlines quite as much as her father. However, when facing off against the Kollector, she learns what her name means in the creature's tongue.
Cassie: "Your name's just 'Kollector'?"
Kollector: "Your name means dung heap in my tongue."
Cassie: "This is why I hate Outworld."
9 Robocop vs. The Terminator
Robocop and the Terminator share much in common – they are both part flesh and part machine, and they both came out in the 80s to critical success – but funnily enough they have fought in media aside from Mortal Kombat. A dialogue in-game references the comic book series and Sega MegaDrive game Robocop vs. Terminator, which the Terminator apparently forgets.
RoboCop: "Haven't we done this before?"
Terminator: "I have no record of a previous encounter."
RoboCop: "We have met. I am sure of it"
8 Johnny Cage vs. Sub Zero
Johnny Cage has long been the comic relief character in Mortal Kombat, going all the way back to his iconic crotch-punch move from the original games. When facing off against Sub Zero, Johnny Cage makes fun of the Lin Kuei warrior's lack of dating skill.
Johnny: "Dating must be hard for you"
Sub: "I have no time to socialize!"
Johnny: "Yeah, that and chicks hate guys with cold hands"
7 Baraka vs. Kung Lao
Baraka is a Tarkatan general from Outworld, while Kung Lao is a Shaolin Monk from Earthrealm. They couldn't be from more different worlds, and sometimes the language barrier gets in the way of proper introductions. When facing off against each other, Baraka and Kung Lao have a brief interaction where Lao pokes fun at Baraka's language.

Baraka: "Nay aka ratakka tahar kombat."
Kung Lao: "All I understood from that was 'kombat'."
Baraka: "Then you understand enough."
6 Erron Black vs. Raiden
Erron Black returned for Mortal Kombat 11, complete with his self-deterministic attitude towards life (and his six-shooter). When Erron Black faces off against Raiden, the Thunder God reminds the former Best Shot In Texas that his selfish nature and choice of alliances angered the Elder Gods.
Erron Black: "Time for another one of your heavenly lectures?"
Raiden: "You defy the will of the Elder Gods!"
Erron Black: "Damn straight."
5 The Joker vs. D'Vorah
The Joker is a DLC character for Mortal Kombat 11 who brings lots of one-liners and funny dialogues to the game. One joke he tells is with D'Vorah, who asks him whether his flesh tastes any different because of his "occupation" – D'Vorah probably doesn't know the Joker isn't a real clown.
D'Vorah: "Does clown flesh taste different?"
Joker: "I don't know, I'm a bat-a-tarian."
D'Vorah: "This One will find out."
4 Johnny Cage vs. Cassie
Johnny Cage and Cassie Cage don't really have a canonical reason to fight. Nonetheless, if Johnny goes up against Cassie, their intro dialogue will contain a big reference to The Matrix. It makes sense for the father and daughter to train with one another, but it makes less sense if a fatality is performed at the end of the match...

Johnny Cage: "No one can be as strong or as fast as a Cage."
Cassie: "You tryin' to tell me I can dodge bullets?"
Johnny Cage: "When you're ready, you won't have to."
3 Jax vs. Kano
Jax and Kano have a long history going back to the first Mortal Kombat games. Jax and Sonya Blade's stories revolved around their hunt for Kano, even in the 90's Mortal Kombat movie adaptation. When they come face to face, though, Jax is curious about Kano's criminal origins.
Jax: "When did you commit your first crime?"
Kano: "Was an ankle biter, five or six."
Jax: "Nature one, nurture zero."
2 Rambo vs. The Terminator
Rambo as a DLC character is an odd fit for the Mortal Kombat universe, almost as odd as the inclusion of the Terminator. While their appearances in-game are not canonical in their own universes or Mortal Kombat's, nevertheless the two share dialogue about the state of the future in the Terminator's version of Earth.
Rambo: "In the future, machines are in charge?"
Terminator: "All human life is terminated."
Rambo: "F*ck."
1 Kung Lao vs. Skarlet
As a Shaolin Monk, Kung Lao probably avoids relationships in his personal life. When facing off against Skarlet, Kung Lao's dialogue reflects this as he turns Skarlet away (perhaps not understanding that she needs his blood for her magic, not any other meaning).
Kung Lao: "We are not here to parlay, are we?"
Skarlet: "I came to suck you dry"
Kung Lao: "Skarlet, we hardly know each other!"
