The development team of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Legion shares that the 60 FPS performance mode update is coming soon to next-gen consoles.

With the advent of next-gen platforms such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, many game development studios have been working hard to upgrade their current lineup of titles to play seamlessly on these consoles. Recently, the devs of Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs Legion announced that they are jumping into the next-gen hype train, and are hoping to release a 60 FPS performance mode update for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S soon.

Though Watch Dogs Legion was only released in 2020, the action-adventure title followed up the launch with a lot of end-game content for its current player base. The team recently revealed a Watch Dogs Legion development roadmap that outlined the coming updates for the game which includes character customization, new online content, a collaboration with fellow Ubisoft title Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and even a new playable character named Darcy. With all these things in the pipeline, it is likely that the team will also want to capitalize on the next-gen market, and let them experience all this great content in the rich smoothness of 60 FPS.

In a recent Ask-Me-Anything on the Watch Dogs Legion Reddit thread, the game’s live producer Lathieeshe Thillainathan and online director JP Cambiotti were asked the question about adding a performance mode for 60 FPS on next generation consoles. In a brief answer, Thillainathan and Cambiotti confirmed that 60 FPS for next-gen consoles is already in development. Owners of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are likely excited to experience this performance mode, given that Watch Dogs Legion is already available on next-gen consoles yet does not provide the option of maximizing their 60 FPS performance capabilities.

The team did not confirm when the performance mode will come to Watch Dogs Legion, but promised to announce the exact release date in their future title updates. With the performance node update not included in the recently shared Watch Dogs Legion content roadmap, fans are left speculating about when 60 FPS will finally be implemented on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Even without the upcoming performance node for next-gen consoles, Watch Dogs Legion still has a lot of content to offer while its fans are waiting for the update. The multiplayer online mode of Watch Dogs Legion has just been released, plus cross-gen and cross-platform playability has also been confirmed to be coming soon to the game. Hopefully players will be able to be patient until the performance node update is officially released by the team.
