Insomniac Games' Spider-Man: Miles Morales has proven to be popular since its November launch and has received several updates so far.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was released in November 2020, and it has seen great success so far. It's a cross-generation title that is available on both PlayStation 4 and the new PlayStation 5 console. The title was one of the most downloaded PlayStation games of 2020, next to the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Since its release, Insomniac Games has supported the game with various updates and new content additions, giving players more reasons to stay in the Spider-Man version of New York a little longer.

Some fans were trepidatious about Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales due to its shorter length when compared to the first Spider-Man game. After it was launched, it proved to be a success with critics and fans alike, who praised the new cast of characters, performances and focus on a new hero. While the game has a short runtime, Insomniac Games has been working hard to give gamers a reason to keep playing it. The team has added multiple quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and some new content for players to experience.

The first post-launch updates added a host of performance and stability improvements, ray-tracing updates, and various other fixes. This first update also added some more options for photo mode, including new selfie poses, adjustable light distance, and a depth of field slider. The BAFTA award-winning game added some important general updates as well. After this update was installed players were able to transfer their saves from PS4 to PS5, change the time of day during the post-game, and allowed PS5 players to upgrade to the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition version of the game.

This was much smaller when compared with the first post-launch update. Apart from stability and performance improvements, an option to change the weather in the post-game was added, along with a new subtitle option for black text on a white background. While it was a smaller update, players were still having a lot of fun in Miles Morales, notably using the photo mode.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales got some bug fixes added with this update. It didn't add anything significant that would change the gameplay experience, but it addressed a few key issues that the title faced from launch. This update fixed an issue with being unable to change suits, weather not changing correctly, and an issue with the screen going black when the time of day is changed. While it didn't add any content to the game, this was an important update that resolved several issues.

Dropping in December 2020, this update was another that addressed a few issues in addition to messaging if the player is using the PS4 version on a PlayStation 5 console. Outside of general stability and performance updates which weren't detailed further, this update addressed an issue with selecting the Day option for the weather. It also moved the Ultimate Edition upgrade option slightly on PS5. While this wasn't a major update, players still had a lot of cool activities to participate in with Miles Morales.

This update was released exclusively for PlayStation 5. This was a somewhat major update that added a new graphics mode to Miles Morales. This is an alternative to the performance mode, and sees the game benefit from better reflections and lighting, at the cost of some resolution quality. This gave players the option to experience Miles Morales with either improved visual fidelity or upgraded framerates.

The critically-acclaimed Miles Morales received general stability and performance updates, in addition to fixes for the PS5 visual modes. This update also specifically addressed an issue where Miles could get stuck when completing tutorial for the Venom Dash ability, and where black visual errors could appear on the screen.

The latest update for Miles Morales is one of the biggest yet. This added the new Advanced Tech Suit for players to use and a corresponding sticker of it for photo mode. PS5 players have also benefitted from ZivaRT support for several in-game suits, which adds more realistic muscle deformation. The update also addressed a few bugs, including where Miles' character model wouldn't properly render and where our hero could fall through the map when replaying missions. Lighting in Central Park has been improved, in addition to a fix for Roxxon bases where they appeared excessively dark.

The addition of the Advanced Tech Suit in Miles Morales has proven to be popular amongst fans. Gamers have been taking to photo mode again to show off the new suit in as many cool and interesting ways as possible. Fans are hoping that there will be more content added to the game over time, considering how popular the new suit has been. It hasn't been confirmed or denied if there are going to be more updates for Miles Morales, but it stands to reason there could be more after the success of the latest update and its new content.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
