The hardware specs for Oddworld: Soulstorm are revealed as fans get ready to welcome the return of Abe in this spiritual successor.

Fans of the original 1997 2.5D platformer Abe's Oddysee have no doubt been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the newest installment in the long-running series. With Oddworld: Soulstorm due for release within the next few days, as well as the Oddworld Collection now announced for the Switch, PC gamers may be curious as to what hardware spec the game will require.

Thankfully, the specifications for the PC version of Oddworld: Soulstorm have now been announced. According to sources, the game will require a fairly up-to-date system, but players won't exactly need a brand-new PC to play it, with most modern day systems probably capable of handling it at least for the minimum requirements and in fact should run even on a Windows 7 machine. The specs are shown below:

MINIMUM

  • Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit.
  • CPU: Intel quad-core @ 1.7Ghz
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 670 or AMD equivalent
  • Memory: 8GB

RECOMMENDED

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel quad-core @ 2.3Ghz
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD equivalent
  • Memory: 16GB

The fact that it should run on Windows 7 PCs shows that it's unlikely to be a hugely taxing game in terms of hardware usage. This could be a good thing anyway, given that supplies of AMD and Nvidia GPUs are likely to be very low right into the next year.

It was also revealed recently that Oddworld: Soulstorm will be free to PS Plus subscribers,  but only for those who buy the game on PS5. Either way, it's looking like this latest addition to the Oddworld family is going to be a popular hit, for both fans of old and for newcomers as well.
