Hot off the heels of Zack Snyder's Justice League, the acclaimed director is turning his sights to a very different kind of film. While the Snyder Cut is undoubtedly a darker, more serious version of Justice League, going so far as to a have a black and white version coming out soon, it would seem Zack Snyder is also not above going all out on gaudy color with his next project, Army of the Dead.
There's been a lot of news about Army of the Dead ever since it got picked up by Netflix, with many suggesting that the company and director are investing heavily in the IP. Even before the first film hits streaming, the franchise already has a prequel and an anime series greenlit and in early production. Obviously, whatever both parties see in the property, they're willing to invest big time in this concept.

To be fair, it's a pretty interesting pitch as far as films go: a heist movie where the principal threat is a zombie-filled Vegas. Working as a team, a group of mercenaries must attempt to infiltrate and steal a fortune from a zombie ravaged city, complete with all the colorful lights, over-the-top sets, and larger-than-life scenes one would expect from a film set in various zombie-filled casinos.
The film has gotten quite a few teasers, sneak previews, and even a minute-long trailer of sorts over the past few months. One of the latest marketing reveals is a brand new poster featuring Dave Bautista and a few co-stars, complete with some vibrant neon imagery to really make the image pop. The image features 5 of the film's stars with a bright blue neon skull behind them, standing on top of a slot machine with the tagline "Always bet on dead."
It's a fun-looking poster, and it certainly stands out among a lot of the usual promotional art, leaning fully into the gaudy Vegas neon look that sets the film apart from its peers. It is interesting that the poster only features these 5 characters, considering the rather lengthy cast list given for the project, but it is a zombie movie, so maybe there is some padding in there for the inevitable zombie deaths along the way.
Regardless, Army of the Dead really does seem to be quite an energetic film that could be a really fun addition to the Netflix catalogue when it finally comes out. Hopefully, a more in-depth trailer will release soon to give audiences a closer look at the zombie-based heist before it lands on streaming.
Army of the Dead hits Netflix on May 21st.
