Lil Nas X knows that there's enough interactivity within Grand Theft Auto Online that it could host the same kind of live events as Fortnite.

Despite being around for quite a few years, Grand Theft Auto Online is seeing a bit of a resurgence of late. Rapper Lil Nas X believes he has quite an idea to take advantage of that popularity much like the way games like Fortnite and Roblox have done.

Alongside the rise in popularity of Grand Theft Auto Online, there's also been a rise of people streaming the game on Twitch. The NoPixel 3.0 GTA RP (roleplay) server has allowed users to put out all kinds of content in the GTA Online world. Lil Nas X believes there's at least one type of content that hasn't taken center stage in the game just yet. He's actively advocating for it, even if he hasn't committed to doing it himself.

In a single post on Twitter, the rapper floated an idea that could have GTA Online competing with some of the more popular games on the market these days. He posted that the game should feature virtual concerts. If Rockstar games took the performer up on his suggestion, there is a chance it could follow in the footsteps of Fortnite, which most notably had so many users watching a virtual concert, it earned Travis Scott more than $20 million.

Fortnite's many concerts in the last year have almost uniformly brought in huge audiences. Lil Nas X knows a little something about the demand for these kinds of events. He also appeared in a virtual concert in Roblox back in November. With more than six million followers on Twitter, it stands to reason that should he host another concert, this time inside GTA Online, it would garner a good-sized audience.

There have been a number of big-time celebrities trying to get involved with the NoPixel 3.0 server. Since Lil Nas X has one of the biggest followings of any musician on Twitter, so he may stand a decent shot at getting an event like a virtual concert off the ground.

There has been quite a bit of talk about why Rockstar doesn't seem in a hurry to get to work on Grand Theft Auto 6. One of the key reasons that is pointed to most often is that the company is still seeing plenty of success with Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto Online. These days, in fact, GTA Online is the more popular of the two modes as it tends to get more content updates. A virtual concert from someone like Lil Nas X would certainly count as a big addition to that content.

Grand Theft Auto Online is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
