Some unlucky Apex Legends players suffer from an issue that removes all of their progress, but it sounds like Respawn has identified the problem.

Apex Legends is no stranger to nasty bugs and glitches that risk ruining the game for a lot of people, but this one might be the worst one of the bunch. Some incredibly unlucky players have been suffering from an issue that wipes out all of their progress, causing them to lose all their skins, Heirlooms, and other rewards that they spent hours working to obtain. One player who spent money on the game's loot boxes ended up losing $2,000 worth of content because of this.

For a while, there seemed to be no solution to the problem or workaround to avoid it. Thankfully, developer Respawn has not only seemed to figure out what the problem is and what's causing it, but also a way to restore any progress and content lost due to the glitch in question, at least for Apex Legends players on PlayStation.

According to Respawn, the issue originated from a database shard. So, to resolve it, Respawn migrated players from the shard, which should mean no one else will suffer from the issue. As for the players already affected by it, their progress should have been restored by now, meaning any skins, Heirlooms, and the like should be back. One of the game's lead developers has added that those affected may still see some lingering visual issues but they'll resolve themselves once players complete a match.

Respawn does only mention PlayStation players, but the issue hasn't been exclusive to that platform. The aforementioned player who lost $2,000 worth of content was playing Apex Legends on the Xbox so, hopefully, Respawn has addressed the issue on other platforms as well. At the time of writing, there don't seem to be any major reports about the issue not being resolved, but time will tell whether it's been permanently expunged.

In the meantime, some fans are more invested in the upcoming Season 9, which is expected to begin early next month once Season 8 ends. While no official information has been confirmed for it, director Chad Grenier recently promised that it will feature a lot of Titanfall content, exciting fans of Respawn's previous two titles.

There's always been a desire from some for Titans to be added to Apex Legends. Respawn has stated in the past, however, that it wouldn't include playable Titans, something Grenier reiterated not long after his last statement. That said, a popular Season 9 leak points to the suspected new character, Blisk, having the ability to summon a Titan as a temporary assist. For now, fans will just have to wait until next month for some concrete answers.

Apex Legends is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
