With the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles came tons of next-gen upgrades for PS4 and Xbox One games, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the latest title to get this treatment. Rebellion Developments has officially confirmed that Zombie Army 4: Dead War will be getting a free next-gen upgrade over the next week.

PlayStation fans will be getting their hands on this next-gen upgrade for Zombie Army 4: Dead War a little bit earlier than on Xbox, with the update launching on April 6 for PS5 and April 8 for Xbox Series X/S. In addition to all of the upgrades for next-gen consoles, Rebellion Developments also confirmed a number of fixes would be rolled out on all platforms.

The next-gen upgrade for Zombie Army 4: Dead War includes several improvements. On the PS5, the game will run at 4K 60Hz, with DRS enabled to ensure the smoothest framerate. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will get significantly reduced load times thanks to the SSDs offered with next-gen consoles. While the Xbox Series X will be able to run Zombie Army 4: Dead War at 4K 60Hz in quality mode and 1080p at 120Hz in performance mode, the Xbox Series S is only able to reach 1080p 60Hz. The Xbox Series X offers a toggle for players to switch between both modes at their leisure, while the PS5 upgrades are locked in.

PS5 and Xbox Series X/S fans of Zombie Army 4: Dead War don't have long to wait for the upgrades, but fans playing on PC will be able to enjoy crossplay between Windows 10 Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store with this week's patch. Zombie Army 4: Dead War is currently a PlayStation Plus title for the month of April, which means PS5 fans won't have long to wait for these upgrades, and Xbox Game Pass will be receiving the zombie game in the near future. Several balance changes and bug fixes were implemented in the latest Zombie Army 4: Dead War update, assuring PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players get the optimal experience when they receive the next-gen upgrades.

Considering the Xbox Series X will be receiving a quality/performance toggle, it appears to be the ideal place to play Zombie Army 4: Dead War, but PlayStation Plus subscribers are already delving into the zombie game ahead of these next-gen upgrades. Xbox Game Pass subscribers don't have long to wait for Zombie Army 4: Dead War to appear on the subscription service, but Xbox Live Gold fans are left out of this deal.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One, with next-gen upgrades for Xbox Series X releasing April 8.
