As it continues to be one of the most popular online multiplayer games out there, Fortnite has introduced fans with a lot of ways to play with each other, including Squads, Team Rumble, Party Royale, and much more. Late last year, the game introduced a beta for the Reboot a Friend program, which allowed players to gain rewards by playing with friends who hadn't played Fortnite in a some time.
By playing a certain number of matches witha player who hadn't played Fortnite for 30 days or more, fans could progressively unlock items like a new Lobby Track, Emoticon, Pickaxe, and Weapon Wrap. Now, it looks like Epic Games is bringing the Reboot a Friend program back for real this time and has tweaked quite a bit about it, including how rewards are earned as well as the rewards themselves.

Today, Fortnite announced the official launch of Reboot a Friend, where players can now invite up to 3 of their friends who haven't played the game in 30 days or more. Instead of being rewarded based on how many matches are played with friends, players will earn points this time, unlocking certain rewards when reaching the necessary number of points for that reward. This time around, the rewards include the Reboot a Friend Spray, the Heartbeat Wrap, the Toxic Flash Glider, and the Plasma Carrot Pickaxe.
After inviting fellow players to their Reboot squad on the official website, those who play a match with a Rebooted friend for the first time will each receive 100 points, but every subsequent match will yield 10 points. Persistent Fortnite fans will need 100 points to unlock the Spray, 2oo points for the Wrap, 300 for the Glider, and 400 for the Pickaxe, which has selectable styles. If a player has no friends eligible to be rebooted, they can invite players they might normally play with to receive 10 points per match that way. The Reboot a Friend program is live now and will last until April 26 at 11:59pm PST.
On the official website, Epic Games discloses that these rewards are brand new with the Reboot a Friend program, but they are not exclusive and may be made available for purchase somehow in the future, like in the Item Shop. Additionally, the rewards will be issued to players within 7 days of being unlocked. Players with any Reboot-eligible friends on their friends list must play those players to earn rewards and cannot play with others to receive rewards like those with no eligible friends.
While Fortnite manages to maintain an ever-increasing player base, the Reboot a Friend program is one surefire way to incentivize old fans to hop back in and drop from the Battle Bus once again. Fortnite is now well into Chapter 2 Season 6, which introduced an all-new weapon crafting mechanic, roaming wildlife, Makeshift and Mechanical weapons, and more.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
