Fans have mixed feelings about April 2021's new additions to PS Now, which includes Marvel's Avengers, Borderlands 3, and The Long Dark.

The PS Now April 2021 update went live yesterday, adding three extra games to its catalogue for subscribers to play. Today, PlayStation fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the three new additions to the PS Now library.

The games include Marvel’s Avengers, which recently released for the PS5; Borderlands 3; and The Long Dark. Although it received lukewarm reviews upon its release, fans of Marvel's Avengers are hopeful that developer Crystal Dynamics will be able to improve the game through updates and additional content. Fans of shooters will enjoy Borderlands 3, Gearbox Software’s popular looter-shooter that has become a staple for players who enjoy fast-paced gameplay with friends. Finally, in The Long Dark, players take on the role of a downed bush pilot who must survive the Canadian wilderness.

There will be at least a few months to enjoy the games on PS now, as Borderlands 3 will be available through September and Marvel’s Avengers through July, while The Long Dark does not yet have a removal date. Fans took to Twitter the day after the game were made available to discuss April’s new additions, and many drew comparisons to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass, which is adding eight new games to its library this month.

Some fans were disappointed over the newly added games, especially Marvel's Avengers. User madlythegreat joked about how they felt the new additions to Game Pass were better than Marvel’s Avengers. Game Pass’s April 2021 additions include Grade Theft Auto 5, MLB the Show 21, NHL 21 and Outriders. Before April, Microsoft announced it would add 20 Bethesda games to Game Pass to celebrate its recent acquisition of the developer, further bolstering the subscription service’s library.

Other gamers directly compared Marvel’s Avengers to Outriders, which were the newest games added to the competing PS Now and Xbox Game Pass services. User jakeH78748162 shared data compering Outriders number of players to Marvel’s Avengers, showing that many more people are using the former. It is fair to note that it isn’t a fair comparison, as Marvel’s Avengers released last year and Outriders debuted earlier this week, though it is confirmed that Outriders had a better launch on Steam than Marvel's Avengers.

While many players seemed to be unhappy over the new games, some fans praised the PS Now additions. User skylar_runyon said they enjoyed Marvel’s Avengers and Borderlands 3. They added that they have only played Marvel’s Avengers on Xbox One, and are happy that PS Now gives them the chance to try the game on PS4.

Not everybody was pleased with April’s PS Now additions, but it seems the offerings are enough to keep subscribers interested. It will be interesting to see what how Sony may upgrade or change PS Now in the future to compete with Xbox Game Pass.
