EA announces that its new, Vancouver-based studio Full Circle will be tackling the highly-anticipated fourth entry in the Skate franchise.

After years of fan demand through petitions, social media trends, and memes, EA finally announced that Skate 4 was in production, revealing it was resurrecting the beloved series for its first entry since 2010. The company decided to share an interesting new tidbit of information about the sequel earlier today, revealing that it will be in development at a brand new EA studio called Full Circle.

The Vancouver-based developer was confirmed to be taking on Skate 4 through a press release, revealing that the team will be lead by former-head of Xbox Live Daniel McCulloch. He'll be joined by both Deran Chung and Cuz Parry, who were both producers on Skate and appeared in the announcement video for the newest iteration of the series.

Despite Full Circle being Vancouver-based, the press release announcing the decision claimed that the studio is looking to work alongside "a geo-diverse team," bringing in employees from all across the globe. It's apparently staffing up for the new game right now, hiring designers, artists, engineers, and more. It looks as though it's going to be a big production from EA, which is unsurprising considering Full Circle is attempting to capitalize on the lofty fan-demand for a sequel that's been gradually building since the release of Skate 3.

As for what this new iteration of the Skate series will look like, it's still unclear. The announcement revealed that the game is still in early development, so it seems fans should expect to wait a little longer before Full Circle reveals its grand plan for a long-awaited follow-up. What is general knowledge, however, is that the title will likely look to incorporate community features heavily into the experience. The game's Creative Director Chris Parry and Game Director Deran Chung said as much in an interview, claiming the previous titles were "ahead of the curve" in terms of social features and the new game would build upon that foundation. Whatever the sequel turns out to be, interest in a follow-up is still very much alive, as fans continue to demand Skate's return to screens.

It seems Skate 4 is merely one of the projects currently in early development over at EA, with the publisher working with BioWare on a new Mass Effect game that will look to make up for the lackluster reception of Mass Effect: Andromeda. To add to that, BioWare is also developing Dragon Age 4, DICE is working on a new Battlefield, and the company is allegedly announcing a new Star Wars game later into 2021 as well. Skate is easily one of the bigger projects currently on its horizon, so hopefully Full Circle can create a competent new addition to the franchise.

Skate 4 is currently in development.
