A unique mode in Playground Games' Forza Horizon 4, Survival revolves around offroad driving. Which cars should Survivors and Infected prioritize?

There are many fun activities to occupy players immersed in Forza Horizon 4, from knocking out story missions and earning credits to doing exhilarating stunts for Skill Points.

Yet, it's the online games that remain a standout feature of Playground Games' open-world racer. Along with the intense new BR-style "Eliminator" and team races, there's the often-overlooked zombie-themed Survival. The game plays like a chaotic, car-based version of tag, as two teams face off to either "infect" victims or evade the infected.

The game usually demands offroad abilities, along with well-rounded stats that favor handling, launch, and acceleration. Given the unique traits of this entertaining romp, it can be tough to pinpoint the most optimal cars to use here.

There is no shortage of awesome cars in FH4 — but which are some of the best choices to handle the rugged, fast-paced Survival showdown?

10 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0

Generally speaking, it's a good idea to roll with a truck or heavy-duty vehicle of some sort, as there will be lots of offroad chaos when playing Survival. Still, having a speedy car that handles well usually pays off too, given all the twists, turns, and about-facing this game demands. For the most part, this 2012 Porsche tends to fit the bill.

Its speed is solid enough at 7.8 (S1 847), though its other statistics are pretty good across the board. This is especially the case with its launch, which is a whopping 9.8. This is perfect to deal with the stop-and-go pacing of Survival.

9 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S Warthog CST

Yes, it turns out the Spartan vehicle of choice is optimal for more than just mowing down Covenant foes. Initially offered to those who played The Master Chief Collection or Halo 5: Guardians for a short time in 2016, this specialized car can now be bought for 850,000 CR at the Autoshow. It's a tad pricey, though it's well worth the investment, even for those who aren't the biggest Halo fans.

Though lacking a bit in the speed department, the Hog excels in most other areas, particularly when it comes to launch and acceleration. Handling is on the average side, though it's well-equipped to deal with the bumpy, off-road terrain that usually comprises Survival.

8 Hummer H1 Alpha

Sure, swiftness can come in handy when fleeing zombified drivers, but Hummer H1 Alpha's size tends to negate this disadvantage, especially when on the Infected side. This classic Hummer is a force to be reckoned with, with its bulky build and a weight that is well north of 8,000 lbs. It doesn't take much to send a blindsided target toppling over and throwing them off their game.

The initial stats of this military vehicle aren't much to write home about, but an upgrade and refinements can really make it a beast in battle.

7 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

Being fairly versatile and built for rugged, offroad driving, this 2013 Ford is a safe pick for those looking to make an impact in Survival. Even without upgrades, its launch and acceleration are both decent at 7.2 and 5.8 (C 564) respectively, while handling is pretty solid in rough conditions.

This truck manages to be somewhat swift and easy to handle while being a physical force at the same time with a weight of 6,000 lbs.

6 Cadillac Escalade ESV

Survival players can ride in style with this luxury 2012 Cadillac, while simultaneously being an ominous threat. A 6.2L naturally-aspirated V8 and weight of nearly 6,000 lbs round out this offensive powerhouse. It can essentially double as a mobile battering ram, knocking weaker opponents on their side and disrupting the Survivor team's retreat.

Of course, the Cadillac Escalade ESV's stocky build makes it more useful when chasing surviving victims. Still, it's not too shabby when it comes to speed either, with a launch and speed both beginning at a decent 6.0 (C 564).

5 Hoonigan Ford "Hoonicorn" Mustang

Given all the out-of-control turning Survival often yields, using a car that can execute smooth drifts is a good idea. And there is no need to look no further than this '65 drift car by Ford. While it won't be an offensive beast like some other cars, the Hoonicorn more than makes up for its smaller stature with great versatility and speed.

It boasts a powerful engine with ample torque and is capable of hitting 60 mph in just under two seconds, making it useful for the frantic nature of the game. An S2 985 build offers an excellent 9.3 speed, as well as perfect launch and acceleration stats. The Hoonicorn also handles quite well for a speedy car flying through offroad terrain.

4 Ferrari 599XX Evolution

This luxury car is typically a go-to when it comes to races and speed-oriented events, and rightfully so. Still, given its power and superb stats, it can also thrive in Survival. This is especially the case when it comes to scrambling away from Infected foes as Survivors.

For a super-fast Ferrari such as this, the car handles like a gem, with perfect handling and braking statistics (S2 979). An impressive launch and a stock top speed of 240 mph further fortify this sleek supercar.

3 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

It may lack some pizazz on a visual level, but this 2012 Jeep has it where it counts, at least when it comes to the rough-and-tumble craziness of Survival. With a large, heavy build of over 4,000 lbs and decent handling, this thing can do work on the offensive side, even when dealing with rugged terrain.

While not the fastest vehicle in the world, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon's launch stat of 7.3 aids towards mad dashes and effective fleeing from Infected.

2 Toyota #1 T100 Baja Truck

Whether looking to fly through rough terrain for Skill Points or chase down Survivors, this '93 truck from Toyota can get the job done. With solid handling and a weight of 4,000 lbs, the Baja Truck can muscle opponents around while maintaining control.

Not only this, but its superb launch and acceleration enable it to deal with the unpredictable chaos that often unfolds. Given how dominant the Baja Truck is for Survival, its 500,000 CR asking price is a pretty decent deal.

1 Lamborghini LM 002

As it happens, this luxury Italian brand offers some solid offroaders to go along with its sleek hypercars, including what many consider the most sound choice for Survival. This nearly 5,200 lb beast thrives in a number of areas, but especially in offensive power and sturdiness.

This Lambo is truly designed for offroad trekking, with its massive ground clearance, thick tires, and heavy-duty suspension. The car can also hit 60 mph in under eight seconds and top off at close to 120 mph, making it a force in the Infected and Survival roles.
