Marvel’s Spider-Man and its spinoff Spider-Man: Miles Morales have a lot in common. Both games focus on a webslinger with similar movement and combat abilities, both share an open world version of New York City, and both include some of the same key characters in their respective narratives. The two games share a passion for hidden details as well, with side activities like random crimes and combat challenges appearing in both, too. However, one of the coolest things that both games offer is an abundance of Spider-Man costumes.
While Spider-Man: Miles Morales saw Insomniac needing to get creative with the young hero’s suits, as he has only been around in the comics for about 9 years, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 should be packed full of classic costumes. Not only can Insomniac port over the outfits seen in the past few games, but it can add more original designs. Further, with Peter Parker having such a lengthy comic book history, there are still some legendary outfits that have yet to appear in either game. As such, the following, unused outfits would be a perfect fit for the sequel.

Kicking off the list with a no-brainer, it seems all-but-guaranteed that this costume will appear inside the sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man. While it makes sense that the costume did not appear in the original game, as Insomniac has been taking its time to build up the Symbiote storyline, the costume is likely going to be one of the key plot points inside the next game. With the sequel set to drive straight into the Symbiote plot that the games have been hyping up for so long, it seems likely that at least one version of the sleek black costume will be seen. With so much potential for creative Symbiote designs and special suit powers tied to the alien parasite as well, the costume will hopefully be worth the wait.
One of the most fan-requested suit designs to never actually show up in the game, Ben Reilly’s costume will hopefully be a top priority for Insomniac when it comes to the next game’s suits. While the Clone Conspiracy story arc remains controversial to this day, Peter Parker’s doppelgänger has an awesome design seen in some of the recent comics. Though the original Scarlet Spider suit is remembered fondly for its unique web shooters, casual style, and slanted spider symbol, the proper Reilly outfit is just as stylish due to its full-body spider symbol. As such, it deserves some time to shine in the sequel as well. Though many are not fond of the person usually seen in the outfit, the suit it is far cooler than the character who wears it – meaning it would look great on the real Peter.
This fully original Spider-Man design made its debut this year, keeping it from getting an introduction in the first game. Made using a special material designed by Reed Richards, this unique outfit has an integrated camera system that allows the city to see Spider-Man fighting criminals. Intended to let the hero show people everything he does to protect them, the outfit would be able to have a unique suit power tied to the cameras. It also has an armored design not usually seen with Spidey outfits, and the blue, orange, and silver color scheme is equally special. While it is unclear how long the costume will remain an outfit of choice for Peter in the comics, porting it over to the game could be fun regardless.
Finally, there is the top-notch Superior Spider-Man costume. Worn by Peter’s nemesis Dr. Octopus after the villain assumes control over the webslinger’s body, the unique black and red design is accompanied by additional legs like the Iron Spider suit. Likely avoided due to the baggage it carries, as Doc Ock already had a huge role in the first game, the supervillain taking a backseat could allow this suit to get some time to shine. While the Superior Spider-Man arc was originally controversial, it has become a bit of a cult classic in recent years, and even its biggest critics have shown appreciation for Doc Ock’s flashy Spider-Man costume and its intimidating black eyes.
Marvel's Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales are available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A sequel has yet to be officially announced.
