Halo: Master Chief Collection Season 6 is here, bringing 100 tiers of new rewards for players to unlock and customize themselves with.

Halo: Master Chief Collection has provided fans of the franchise with just about every mainline entry in the series, all bundled together in one cohesive package. Of course, developer 343 Industries has added its own rewards to the collection, offering new ways for players to customize their Spartans that weren't found when the games first launched.

Earlier today, Halo: Master Chief Collection launched Season 6, the latest in the game's steady churn of new content, which has consistently kept players coming back to the game. Along with the new season comes 100 brand new reward tiers, heavily influenced by Halo: Fireteam Raven. It's a lot of content, with a unique unlock system that gives players more freedom where unlocking rewards is concerned.

For those unfamiliar, Halo: Master Chief Collection allows players to unlock any cosmetic on a given page, rather than forcing them to grind all the way up the tiers. Players have to unlock an entire page before they can move on to the next one, but it still allows players to prioritize which cosmetic rewards they want to unlock first. Just like most of the other seasons, players will have ten pages containing ten rewards each to unlock.

Altogether, this season is dominated by Halo 3 customization items, though given how well-received of an entry in the franchise it is, that might not be such a bad thing for many fans. There's also a particularly high density of ODST-themed items, though there are many fans of the franchise that love the lore behind ODSTs as well. It certainly isn't surprising to see what 343 Industries is emphasizing with this season.

One of the key new things this time around is the addition of extra Back Accessory options in Halo: Master Chief Collection. These have been around in a limited capacity before, but they seem to be being expanded upon greatly for Halo: MCC Season 6. The backpack is frequently included with ODSTs, so it does make sense that they've been added, but it's difficult to say if they'll make players easier to hit during matches.

Of course, the customization options haven't won everyone over. There are some that have complained about the addition of customization options that weren't included when the games first launched, some citing how different 343 Industries designs can be versus the ones that Bungie created when it was still responsible for the franchise. Those players do, however, seem to be in the minority, at least given the reaction to the launch of Season 6 so far.

With Halo Infinite on the way, fans may be getting an idea of what character customization will look like in it once the game launches. 343 Industries has released a few screenshots of customization options found within the game, but it's still relatively mysterious, overall. Customization remains a central aspect to the franchise, so it's definitely one of the thing that longtime fans will have their eyes on as Halo Infinite gets closer to launching.

In the meantime, players can try to grind out the 100 Halo: Master Chief Collection tiers found in Season 6. Not all of the rewards are stellar, and anyone that isn't a fan of Halo 3 may walk away disappointed, but there's still plenty to be excited for. Plus, Halo: Master Chief Collection seasonal rewards are available even after the season ends, so there's no rush to earn them all.

Halo: Master Chief Collection is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
