One of the biggest upcoming PlayStation 5 console exclusive games is undoubtedly Deathloop, an ambitious game from Dishonored developer Arkane Studios and Bethesda. Deathloop was originally supposed to launch in 2020 near the PS5 itself, but the game's release date was pushed back to May 2021. Unfortunately for fans looking forward to playing the game next month, Arkane Studios has announced that the Deathloop release date has been delayed yet again.
In a statement released today, Arkane Studios confirmed that the new Deathloop release date will be September 14, 2021, at which point it will launch for both PC and PlayStation 5. Arkane explained that the reason for the delay is so that the studio can deliver a game that lives up to expectations while preserving the health of all the employees at Arkane. Arkane confirmed that it will be using the extra development time to ensure that Deathloop is "a fun, stylish, and mind-bending player experience."

Arkane Studios concluded its statement about the latest Deathloop release date delay by apologizing for the wait and thanking fans that are looking forward to the game. Arkane said it "can't wait" to show players more of the game "soon," so perhaps fans will be able to look forward to a new Deathloop gameplay trailer or something along those lines to tide them over until September.
While some fans may be disappointed that Deathloop has been hit with another delay, it's hard to fault Arkane's reasoning. Rushing out a game before it's ready will only result in sour feelings and low review scores, and risking the health of employees to get a game done quicker is also not ideal. Many other fans will be happy that Arkane decided to delay Deathloop's release date so that the game stands a better shot at living up to expectations without jeopardizing the health of the development team.
As for when Deathloop fans will get to see the game next, that remains to be seen. Since Arkane and Bethesda both fall under the Xbox umbrella now, usually one would expect to see the game at Microsoft's E3 2021 press conference. However, Deathloop's status as a PS5 console exclusive throws a wrench in those plans, and so it's unlikely that it will be featured at the event.
The more likely scenario is that Arkane will simply release a new Deathloop trailer at some point between now and its release date. Sony won't be at E3 2021, but perhaps the trailer could be revealed at a PlayStation State of Play event or something similar.
Deathloop is launching September 14 for PC and PlayStation 5.
