With the week 9 challenges now available in Destiny 2, players need a full set of Praefectus armor and here are the multiple ways to get it.

With Season of the Chosen already into week 9, it's more than likely that most players have already finished off their season pass and unlocked most of the new content in Destiny 2. However, Bungie has attempted to keep players engaged throughout the full length of the season, largely with drip-fed content like the brand new Proving Ground strike, continued runs through the abandoned ship Glycon for the Presage mission, as well as the exotic quests that have popped up this season for Dead Man's Tale and Ticuu's Divination.

New for the Season of the Chosen are challenges similar to what Fortnite has been doing. Each week, a new set of challenges become available, granting players rewards for completing them from large piles of XP, lore, War Table progression, and more. What's good about this system is that the challenges remain active throughout the season in an attempt to reduce the feeling of FOMO or fear of missing out. Players can take a break and come back to finish them off at their own pace.

One challenge in particular this week has been giving players problems, largely due to the wording. Suited for Combat requires that players need to defeat targets anywhere in the system with a full set of armor. While it sounds pretty straightforward, the missing piece here is that progression is made only when the Praefectus armor set is equipped in full. While most Destiny 2 players may have unlocked it in full already, there are a few caveats to be aware of. Here's a complete guide on how to unlock the gear.

The easiest way to unlock the armor is to simply progress through the Seasonal Pass. The armor pieces are unlocked at various points through the 100 levels with better stats the higher the player goes. Towards the end of the Battle Pass players will even unlock the unique Legatus ornament set for them to switch up the look.

However, if a player dismantles the gear, it cannot be reacquired from the season pass. At this point, players who still need to complete the armor set will have to move on to the second option.

While not as straight forward as simply unlocking the armor from the Season Pass, players will need to rely on decrypting Umbral Engrams at the H.E.L.M. location in the Tower. Umbral engrams can be found as rewards for certain tasks, but generally have a chance to drop from activities. While certainly not as plentiful as they were during the Season of Arrivals, players can once again use the Prismatic Recaster to turn these engrams into actual items.

Unfortunately, simply decrypting these engrams isn't the most efficient way to farm Praefectus armor as the loot pool includes a lot of gear and weapons that could spawn. Thankfully, players can unlock new tiers inside the recaster, typically by using certain gear or weapons, allowing the engram to be focused into something a little more specific. The higher the tier, the more hammer charges are needed, though by Tier 3, players can just about select the gear they want along with which stat should be highest on it. Getting Hammer Charges means more Battlegrounds runs, but upgrading the Hammer of Proving can help grant more charges in one run.

Outside of Umbral Engrams and the Prismatic Recaster, Destiny 2 players can also upgrade the War Table reputation and rank, which allows players to unlock new perks that can impact the type of loot received from Battlegrounds missions. Specifically, perks like Tribute Chest, Red Legion Chest, Challenger Medallion, and Mission Focus give players a bonus chance to earn Season of the Chosen armor or focused Umbral Engrams.

Naturally, this method is the least reliable of the three as players have little control over what type of gear they get or the type of focused engram. For those who need a specific type of gear piece, using the Prismatic Recaster would be a more reliable method than relying on RNG.

Destiny 2 and its expansions are now available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Stadia.
