Freeside might not seem like it at first, but there's plenty about it that most fans didn't pick up on during their playthrough.

Before players are able to make it to the Strip, they will need to get through Freeside. The excitement of making it to New Vegas might cause some players to rush through quests and through the settlement. This will cause players to miss some details and even some unique items.

Some events lead to the player fighting for their lives, while others provide benefits. Players should take the time to explore Freeside before they rush to their revenge in New Vegas. Who knows, maybe the player will find they enjoy the area outside New Vegas way more than the actual city.

10 Attacking Crier Closes Shop

On one of the corners of Freeside, there is a crier for the store Mick & Ralph's. He yells out advertisements for the store as the player passes by. If the player attacks the crier for any reason, he will run away. He is unable to be killed since he is a child.

It might seem like there are no consequences for doing this, but going to Mick & Ralph's will reveal there are. Neither will sell any items to the player, saying they don't like how the players treated their friend.

9 Can Be Lured Into A Trap

Players walking by an alley might see a person gesturing at them. The person will run down the alley to some dumpsters. If the player follows, they will see a dead body. Talking to the gesturing person will reveal the dead body is their last victim and lead to an ambush.

The player will need to fend off three other enemies. Killing them will lead to some extra XP, as well as multiple bodies that can be looted. It might not seem too worth it, as the attackers will not have many items.

8 Mojave Express Box Found Here

Outside of the Old Mormon Fort, players will see an old mailbox. Activating it will allow the player to ship items to numerous locations across the Mojave Wasteland. These locations include Novac, Goodsprings, Primm, and the New Vegas Strip. This can help players safely store items when they are carrying too much.

The boxes cannot be used unless another one has been activated. Just don't forget to check the drop boxes every once in awhile, players might forget they put an item in one.

7 Snow Globe Found Here

When players first enter Freeside, they might notice a large structure to the left of them. This is the Old Mormon Fort, the main base for the Followers of the Apocalypse. While there are numerous characters to speak to, there is also a collectible in this location.

Going inside of the office area and going to the top floor, players can find a snow globe. It is located on top of a shelf and is hard to miss. Picking it up allows players to bring it to Mr. House for 2000 caps.

6 Unique Pip-Boy Found Here

Assuming players did not get banned from Mick & Ralph's, they are able to acquire a unique version of the Pip-Boy. It is called the Pimp-Boy 3 Billion and is covered in a gold plating. While it does not provide any benefits, it offers a new look for the iconic device.

To acquire the device, players need to convince the Omertas to buy weapons from Mick again. Mick will be grateful and give the Pip-Boy as a reward.

5 Can Get Tips From A Ghoul

Entering Freeside through the east gate, players will see a Ghoul resting on a wall. Speaking to him allows players to learn more about Freeside, but only if he is given a cap. The tips can reveal quests or the gangs that run Freeside to the player. Rotface will also speak about locations nearby to Freeside.

After giving him enough caps, players can find him with a new hat. It will be Eulogy Jones' hat from Fallout 3. How it got to New Vegas is unknown, but players can take it for themselves through any means they want. Just don't expect anymore tips after doing so.

4 Reputation Gives Players Rewards

Depending on the reputation the player has in Freeside, the citizens might react in different ways. If the player is idolized or loved in the town, the Kings will provide water or other aid items to the player. They might also assist in combat if they are nearby.

Players can also get a discount from Mick & Ralph's if they have the unpredictable reputation. This discount will go away if the reputation goes up or down. Having a terrible reputation will make it so that the thugs around Freeside do not attack the player at all.

3 Bounty Hunter's Unfortunate End

When players get to Camp McCarran, they can find a bounty hunter named Little Buster. He will tell the player the NCR have bounties out on fiends. He will even provide intel about the targets and help the player out. After killing the targets, Little Buster will leave McCarran and travel the wastes.

It seems the bounty hunter does not get too far. On the train tracks next to the Old Mormon Fort, players can find Little Buster's dead body. He will be surrounded by three thugs, most likely the people who killed him. Despite the sad end, players can loot him for his unique bladed gauntlet.

2 Wild Wasteland Encounter Found Here

Players with the Wild Wasteland perk will get a surprise as they leave a building. Players will be sent to the Cerulean Robotics building in the quest Wang Dang Atomic Tango. After leaving, a group of old women will ambush the player and attack them.

These ambushers are called Maud's Muggers, a reference to a Monty Python skit. As unexpected as it is, players can easily defeat the would-be muggers. They truly are a unique gang, they just chose to attack the wrong person.

1 Can Find Euclid's C-Finder

In Freeside, there is a boy named Max running around with a unique weapon. It is the Euclid's C-Finder, a weapon that shoots a powerful beam onto the player's enemies. The weapon can be bought from Max for 1000 caps or 20 if a Barter check is passed. Otherwise, it can be pickpocketed as he sleeps.

To actually use the weapon, players need to direct power towards Archimedes II during the quest That Lucky Old Sun. If the power has already been directed elsewhere, this weapon is useless. It can only be used once a day due to the recharging of the weapon. If only Max knew the power he welded.
