Digimon Survive has a smaller roster than the other games in the franchise, but even still, the choices will have a heavier impact than ever before.

Digimon Survive is the latest game in the beloved Digimon franchise. With what seems to be fewer Digimon available this time around, some fans may be curious if their favorite will make it into Digimon Survive.

Digimon Survive will be introduced as a new series on its own, alongside the development of sequels for the Digimon Story and possibly Digimon World series. Digimon Survive will have a smaller roster than other entries at about 100 (out of the 1400+), with a focus on the bonds players make with human characters and Digimon. It will also have choices that change the outcome of certain things like multiple endings, going so far as to have the possibility of some main characters dying, making Digimon Survive the darkest in the franchise yet.

So far, there has been only a brief look at the gameplay for Digimon Survive, but there is a small handful of confirmed Digimon in them. It could also be assumed that, with the nature of the tactical battle system, players will be able to control the Digimon partners of the other human characters. This, alongside the gameplay videos and dev diaries, confirms the following as playable Digimon:

  • Agumon - Greymon - Metalgreymon
  • Labramon
  • Falcomon
  • Kunemon
  • Floramon
  • Lopmon - Wendigomon
  • Dracumon
  • Syakomon
  • Palmon - Garurumon

Interestingly, Palmon is not listed as any of the main characters Digimon partner, yet is shown as a playable ally. This must mean that, despite the smaller roster of Digimon available, players will still have some variety when choosing their team.

Digimon Survive brings back some familiar Digimon that are shown as enemies in the gameplay showcase. Among these familiar monsters are the following Digimon confirmed to, at the very least, be in the game:

  • Meramon
  • Numemon
  • Okuwamon
  • Marinedevimon

Of course, this is but a small sample size of the entire roster of Digimon that one could expect to come across. With the nature of Digimon, fan should expect to see variations of the Digivolution lines also available within the game. Agumon, for example, could Digivolve into Skullgreymon as a reward for making a bad player choice during the story mode of Digimon Survive. This dynamic approach to evolution is one reason Digimon has become less like Pokemon over time.

Fans of the franchise might remember Leomon as a popular recurring character in various forms, and fans may also remember how frequently that Digimon is killed off throughout the show's series. As this new entry into the franchise is heavier in tone with choices that may have heavy consequences, this could be an opportunity to bring this Digimon character back for one more go.

Other more likely recurring Digimon are ones fans would naturally see throughout the normal course of a Digivolution. For example, Metalgreymon to Wargreymon isn't too far of a stretch, while Kunemon to Kuwagamon to Okuwamon would make sense as well. Wendigomon has a light and dark variant on its Digivolution, so fans could see both of those make an appearance as well, given the game's nature of choice. Despite what is known so far, anything can change as Digimon Survive has been officially delayed, so fans will have to wait and see if their favorite Digimon makes the roster.

Digimon Survive is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
