Pokemon GO is notorious for introducing Shiny Pokemon to its AR-world through a slow drip. While most existing species have made their way into Niantic's title, the game still lacked Shiny forms of even Generation 1 Pokemon up until the recent GO Tour: Kanto event.
As of the Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto event that occurred this past week, Shiny variants of all 151 of the original Kanto Pokemon can finally be encountered in-game. Some of the newer additions include Shiny Mew and Shiny Ditto, however, many players are simply taking advantage of the Kanto features to snag some older Shinies, such as Shiny Jynx.

Originally, Shiny Jynx was unobtainable in Pokemon GO until the 2019 Valentine's Day event. Following this event, players were able to hatch Shiny Smoochum from Eggs, which could then be evolved into Shiny Jynx. Just like Shiny Electabuzz and Shiny Magmar though, Shiny Jynx itself was unavailable in the wild until much later. As of Pokemon GO's Holiday 2020 event, players can now find Shiny Jynx in the wild, on top of hatching Shiny Smoochum from Eggs.
While Jynx is normally a bit tough to encounter out in the wild, players can take advantage of items like Glacial Lures (which boost the appearance rate of Ice-type Pokemon,) to increase their odds of encountering a Shiny Jynx. As mentioned above, Pokemon Trainers are currently also taking advantage of the recent Kanto-themed events to find Jynx. Jynx was featured during the Pokemon League-themed spotlight hour(s) on the days of Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto.
Aside from using Glacial Lures and keeping an eye out for Jynx during Windy or Snowy weather, players can also capitalize on the current Kanto Celebration event. This event, meant to continue celebrating the Kanto region after the GO Tour concluded, gives every player an opportunity to encounter and catch one Jynx. Although it's only a singular encounter, it's a Research reward, which guarantees that the Jynx will at least have generally above-average stats. A guaranteed encounter with a strong Jynx should be welcomed by anyone hoping for a Shiny version of the Ice-type.
The aforementioned encounter is unlocked during the fourth of four stages of the Kanto Celebration event Timed Research. Pokemon Trainers will simply need to send 3 gifts to any of their friends to complete the Research Task in question, which will then reward the player with a (potentially Shiny) Jynx encounter. And although Pokemon's 25th Anniversary will continue through the year, as noted, this is Timed Research. So those hoping to snag this additional Jynx should act with haste, as the Research will disappear after the Kanto Celebration wraps up on February 28, 2021.
Pokemon GO is available now on the App Store and Google Play.
