Pokemon GO trainers who want to take down Cliff during March 2021 can use this lineup to destroy the Team GO Rocket boss without a problem.

The Pokemon GO Season of Legends has arrived and is going to be keeping fans of the mobile AR game busy for the next few months. A new month and a new season mean that a lot of PoGO content is rotating and that includes potentially changing up the Team GO Rocket leader lineups for Cliff, Sierra, Alro, and even Giovanni.

Players who want to earn as many rewards and Shadow Pokemon encounters as possible during March 2021 (and possibly further into the Season of Legends) are going to need to face off against each of the Team GO Rocket bosses multiple times in the near future. Before making it all the way to a fight with Giovanni, Pokemon GO players will, as always, first need to defeat Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff. There are some interesting change ups to Cliff's lineup this time around, which means that trainers should prepare to update their saved counter roster before the big fight.

Because there are so many different Pokemon that Cliff can throw out at players, keep in mind that taking a loss on the first go and gaining some information is something players might have to do. Building the perfect counter roster is much easier once players know which opponents are in the second and third slots. With that in mind, here are the recommended counters for each of the different scenarios that might play out. Be sure to adjust your strategy accordingly, based on what Pokemon Ciff is bringing to the battlefield against your lineup.

First Pokemon: Aerodactyl

Second Pokemon: Gallade, Cradilly, or Slowking

Third Pokemon: Dusknoire, Mamoswine, or Tyranitar

Metagross -Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash

Kyogre -Waterfall and Surf

Rampardos - Smack Down and Rock Slide

Zekrom - Charge Beam and Wild Charge

Chandelure - Hex and Shadow Ball

Moltres - Wing Attack and Sky Attack

Giratina (Origin) -Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Gengar - Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Metagross - Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash

Lucario - Counter and Aura Sphere

Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Breloom - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Darkrai - Snarl and Shadow Ball

Zekrom - Charge Beam and Wild Charge

Chandelure - Hex and Shadow Ball

Raikou - Volt Switch and Wild Charge

Metagross - Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash

Kyogre - Waterfall and Surf

Lucario - Counter and Aura Sphere

Conkeldurr - Counter and Dynamic Punch

Darkrai - Snarl and Shadow Ball

Giratina (Origin) - Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Gengar - Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Chandelure - Hex and Shadow Ball

Lucario - Counter and Power Up Punch

Heracross - Counter and Close Combat

Machamp - Counter and Cross Chop

Considering the new roster, that should be just about all the information trainers need to take down Cliff this time around. Be sure to stock up on potions and make sure your lineup of counters is powered up and equipped with the best move set possible for the matchup. As always, there are a number of other Pokemon that can work as substitutes for this ideal roster, but most players shouldn't have much trouble assembling the team recommended above. Just about every one of the Pokemon listed is relevant to the current Pokemon GO PvE and PvP metagame, so it's worth investing in them beyond this fight anyway. Use TMs and Rare Candy wisely if they are needed to take down this challenger.

Over the next week or so players should begin to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
