The raid bosses for Pokemon GO have switched around once more, making the current raid boss for tier five raids be Tornadus in its Incarnate Forme. This legendary Pokemon is one of the three Forces of Nature Pokemon with the other two being Thundurus and Landorus.
As both a legendary Pokemon and a tier five raid boss, Tornadus can be quite the challenge to overcome for Pokemon GO players. Luckily, players can take it down with the help of good counters and other players fighting by their side.

Like with most other raid bosses, players are recommended to play toward Tornadus's weaknesses and invite any available friends to help increase the damage output toward the Pokemon. Remote Raid Passes are especially helpful when players are invited to help friends from far away.
Tornadus is a pure Flying-type Pokemon, making it weak to Ice, Rock, and Electric-type moves. It additionally resists damage from Fighting, Grass, Bug, and Ground-type moves. This gives players three types that they can focus their parties around in order to maximize the DPS against Tornadus during the raid battle.
If players want to use Ice-type Pokemon for the battle against Tornadus, there are plenty of hard hitters within the type. Some of the best ones and their most effective movesets for Tornadus are:
- Mamoswine - Powder Snow and Avalanche
- Mega Abomasnow - Powder Snow and Weather Ball (Ice)
- Weavile - Ice Shard and Avalanche
- Galarian Darmanitan - Ice Fang and Avalanche
- Glaceon - Frost Breath and Avalanche
Compared to Ice-type Pokemon, some players in certain areas may have a much easier time collecting Rock-type Pokemon instead. These Pokemon also have multiple powerhouses with powerful moves that can be used in battle. The most highly recommended ones are:
- Tyranitar - Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior - Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
- Rampardos - Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Terrakion - Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Aerodactyl - Rock Throw and Rock Slide
Finally, Electric-type Pokemon will also prove to be extremely effective against Tornadus in battle. While many of the top ones are themselves legendary Pokemon previously available in raid battles, there are also those that can be found and evolved. The best Electric-type Pokemon to bring are:
- Raikou - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
- Electivire - Thunder Shock and Wild Charge
- Zapdos - Thunder Shock and Thunderbolt
- Zekrom - Charge Beam and Wild Charge
- Magnezone - Spark and Wild Charge
After players defeat Tornadus, they will be able to attempt to catch it for themselves. If they succeed in doing this, they can use Tornadus in battles against other players, Team GO Rocket, and against Pokemon in gyms. The best moveset for Tornadus after catching it has it know Air Slash for its fast move and Grass Knot for its charge move.
