April 2021 is just a few days away, which means that Pokemon GO trainers are gearing up for another monthly rotation. That means new tasks, events, Legendary and Mega Raid bosses, and a whole lot more. One of the most important parts of every monthly rotation is always how valuable and exciting the new Research Breakthrough reward will be.
The upcoming Research Breakthrough Reward for Pokemon GO trainers this April doesn't deliver the most powerful Pokemon, but it does offer the chance for up to four guaranteed encounters with a Pokemon who has been pretty rare so far. Trainers who manage to earn seven stamps by completing Daily Tasks this month will earn access to encounters with male Frillish.

The jellyfish-inspired Pokemon is a Water- and Ghost-type and trainers are able to evolve it into Jellicent. Although it won't often be the best choice for PvE Battle Raid counters, this Pokemon does bring an interesting pair up that can be a real powerhouse in PvP lineups in Pokemon GO.
From Thursday, April 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. to Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7), you’ll encounter male Frillish in Research Breakthrough encounters.
For those who aren't familiar, in order to claim a Research Breakthrough encounter trainers need to earn stamps by completing seven regular tasks in the mobile AR game. Only one stamp can be earned per day and players do need need to keep up a daily streak, though obviously earning a stamp a day leads to the most Research Breakthroughs possible in any given month.
Trainers should keep an eye out for a significant rotation of the available daily tasks in the game once April 1 arrives, so be sure to keep an eye out for the new list early next month. For now, players can grab tasks by heading out and visiting Pokestops around their community. Picking up daily tasks has become even less of a chore, since some are automatically assigned each day as part of the social distancing and play-at-home friendly measures that Niantic is taking to keep the game as safe as possible throughout the winter months. Keep in mind that trainers are able to store up some Stamps if they avoid a late March Breakthrough Reward, so it's actually possible to head into April with seven stamps ready to cash in if any trainers really want that male Frillish encounter on April 1.
Over the next week or so players should continue to learn a lot more about what other events are on the way throughout the Season of Legends. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
