Later this year, Abandoned is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 5. While details on the game are incredibly slim right now, a teaser trailer for the survival game was unveiled today. It’s a teaser trailer in the truest sense of the word, as it’s really, really hard to extrapolate much of anything out of it, but we’ll give it a try anyway! Before we go on, watch the trailer below!
Click here to watch embedded mediaThe Netherlands-based studio Blue Box Game Studios is crafting Abandoned, which centers around a character who has, ostensibly, been abandoned. Always nice to have a title that syncs up with the content, right? The game is described as a cinematic, first-person horror survival shooter, which could mean a lot of things. Based on the trailer containing a campfire and dangerous wilderness, it’s entirely possible that this may be centered around a “core” survival game experience that tasks the player with maintaining heat levels, dealing with thirst and hunger meters, and possibly fending off bears, wolves, or other dangerous woodsy creatures. And some supernatural stuff too, maybe.
As Jason Longfield, you awake in a strange forest, kidnapped and left there for a “dark purpose”. The goal is survival. Simple, right? The development team is shooting for realism with the worldly interactions, so apparently weapons will be really slow (no Call of Duty blasting away here) and will be influenced by fear and exertion. Ammo is likely to be a valuable resource, and it’s heavily implied that you’ll need to have the drop on your foes in order to come out the victor.
Abandoned is designed to get the most out of the DualSense controller, down to the gun trigger having a different feel when it’s loaded or empty. Abandoned is targeting 60 FPS and 4k resolution as well. The trailer does look very cinematic, but it really doesn’t give us any idea on what gameplay is going to look or feel like. At this trailer stage, that’s cool, but we definitely need to see more. A full gameplay video is coming “soon”, so that should give us a better indicator of what to expect here.
Abandoned is expected to launch in Q4 this year. You can read more at the official blog post here.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the long-awaited sequel to Ghostbusters II, premieres this fall. We already know it'll feature a ton of returning names on top of a main cast of newcomers. That doesn't matter though, because everyone’s favorite, sentient marshmallow man is back...in mini form!
Sony Pictures released a new clip for the film of one of its stars, Paul Rudd, making an otherwise ordinary trip to the grocery store. Unfortunately(?) for him, things take a turn for the maybe-worst when he encounters a bag of miniature Stay Puft marshmallows that come to life. That might seem scary, but the teeny things are so cute and weird that I would personally be totally okay with this.
Click here to watch embedded mediaWhat is Ghostbusters: Afterlife? Unlike 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot, this is a direct sequel taking place 30 years after Ghostbusters II. The film is directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters 1 and 2 director Ivan Reitman (who serves as a producer). The plot centers on a small family who moves to a rural town to live on a farm inherited from their late grandfather. Unbeknownst to the children, grandpa was connected to the original Ghostbusters, and you get a pretty good idea as to how after watching the debut trailer.
The film stars Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, and Carrie Coon. Original stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and Sigourney Weaver have been confirmed as well. Ghostbusters: Afterlife was originally scheduled to premiere last summer but, like basically every movie in the last year, it was delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. Afterlife is now set to release in theaters on November 11.
Ghostbusters is one of my all-time favorite film franchises, and I’m very intrigued with Afterlife. I didn’t completely hate the 2016 film like most fans did (it’s better if you don’t think of it as a Ghostbusters film. Strange concept, I know), but it didn’t scratch that ghostbusting itch. Afterlife has a better premise, double the Reitmans involved, and nearly all of the original performers are back. This will probably be fine. Hopefully. Please?

Are you ready for another classic game battle royale? Couldn’t get enough of the frantic absurdity and smooth control of Tetris 99? Today, Pac-Man 99 heads to Nintendo Switch Online, where you can battle it out with a ton of other players as you eat delicious treats, dodge ghosts, and scramble for those power pellets! It’s Pac-Man battle royale! Check out the trailer below to get a good look at how things work.
Click here to watch embedded mediaIf you’ve never played Pac-Man before, basically you need to deftly maneuver in some tight spaces while avoiding dangerous ghosts. The ghosts will destroy you if they touch you. However, once you’ve munched down on a power pellet, the tables turn, and you can eat the ghosts! In Pac-Man 99, when you crunch and munch a ghost down on your board, it sends the ghost to another player’s board as a “Jammer Pac-Man”, creating tons of player-vs-player interaction and conflict.
These Jammer Pac-Man units don’t kill you on touch like a regular ghost, but they do slow you down significantly if you run into them, so it can be incredibly difficult to escape your standard pursuers if you get hit. Things can get really wild in a hurry with this aspect of the game, so you’re going to want to keep a clean house as much as possible if you have any hope of surviving to be the last Pac-Man standing.
In addition, you can create sleeping ghost trains in your own territory, adding additional ghosts that trail behind your main adversaries. Then, once you get a power pellet, you can eat many, many ghosts instead of just one, sending an overwhelming wave of Jammer Pac-Man enemies into enemy territory! Not only that, but you have various powerups and targeting options that you can use throughout the game for some advanced strategy, allowing you to really show off your Pac-Man skill. It’s hyper-fast, frenzied Pac-action, and it’s scheduled to land today!

After a successful run in Steam Early Access, which lasted more than two years and garnered more than 1,600 reviews resulting in a "Very Positive" rating, the Final Fantasy-inspired Edge of Eternity finally has a full release date. Players will finally be able to jump into the full version of this highly anticipated game on PC beginning June 8, while console players will unfortunately need to wait until late 2021.
The launch update not only brings the long-awaited conclusion to the story players have been working towards since 2018, but also adds an additional 20 hours of gameplay. The title is a result of a successful Kickstarter campaign, in which more than 4,000 people contributed, enabling Midgar Studio to work with Yasunori Mitsuda, the composer of beloved games like Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade Chronicles.
Edge of Eternity features grand narrative involving a war against a mysterious invader, a cataclysmic arms race, and a quest to save the world framed through the lens of personal sacrifice with a cast of memorable characters. The story promises its fair share of plot twists and heart-wrenching moments, and players can solve quests in multiple ways, making difficult choices and facing the consequences in the process. Battles play out in turn-based, tactical fashion, delivering layers of strategy as players can craft their own gear, flank enemies, and even use the environment to their advantage.
"We've poured our whole heard into making Edge of Eternity," founder of Midgar Studio Jeremy Zeler said in a press release. "It's a story of epic existential battles and intimate personal dramas. I can't wait to show it off to the world."
