The upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot from Constantin Film officially has its theatrical release date: Horror fans can look forward to it launching in September.
We had a few new looks at the upcoming movie earlier this year, including screenshots of Raccoon City up in flames, and production has officially wrapped up. The upcoming movie, directed by 47 Meters Down's Johannes Roberts, is slated for a September 3, 2021 release window in movie theaters around the world.
“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences," said the director previously.
As far as the cast goes:
The upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot will follow a new universe that is heavily inspired by the Capcom franchise, including the mainstay characters listed above. It also has an all-star team behind the film, including Robert Kulzer as producer (Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil movies), James Harris (I Am Not A Serial Killer), Hartley Gorenstein (The Boys), and Martin Moszkowicz as executive producer. Alex Zhang (Greyhound) and Victor Hadida are slated to co-executive producer with Colin Scully and Alex Westmore overseeing the entire reboot.
It will be interesting to see how this new batch of Resident Evil movies do. Anderson's take on the Capcom franchise started off incredibly strong, but dwindled into a convoluted mess with each release after. From everything see thus far about the upcoming take, it looks like it could be an incredibly faithful tribute, but we'll have to see an actual trailer to judge for ourselves.

Everyone and their mothers are obsessed with the "Big Tall Vampire Lady" from Resident Evil Village, otherwise known by her actual name: Lady Dimitrescu. With cosplay and fanart galore, it looks like even KFC (yes, the fast food chain) is getting in on the thirst, because they revealed a crossover that no one asked for: Resident Evil Village meets I Love You, Colonel Sanders: KFC Dating Simulator.
KFC is "hip with the cool kids" because it has its own gamer brand with KFC Gaming and it was there that the crossover that actually kind of looks cool the longer we look at it made its debut:
KFC Dating Simulator: Part 2

A tall order to say the least... pic.twitter.com/RLie5R4hTO
We're 99.99% sure that this was just a piece of mockup art to join the meme fray on Twitter, but the social media team has been awfully quiet when fans were asking if the "oh, god, please step on me" lady would actually be in the dating sim or not. Probably not, due to licensing, but boy would that be the shocker of the century if this turned out to be an actual crossover event.
For those that may be out of the loop, the KFC dating sim is legitimately a real thing; it's a game that is free-to-play and is available now on Steam. "I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger-Lickin' Good Dating Simulator follows you, a promising culinary student, as you try to date your classmate, Colonel Sanders," reads the game's official description. "Throughout your journey, you’ll be faced with life-changing decisions that will affect your chances of friendship and love. But be careful! Your choices have real consequences with real animated characters’ feelings at stake."
Would this be the weirdest crossover in gaming history? Oddly enough, no. Do we want to see it actually happen? Would you think less of us if we said yes? You would? That's fair.
What do you think, beloved GI readers? Yay or nay on getting your throat stomped in by Lady Dimitrescu in the KFC dating sim? Weigh in with those thirsty thoughts in the comment section below.
Ubisoft has delayed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake indefinitely to ensure its quality. The game was announced last September with a launch date of January 21 before it was pushed to March 18 back in December. Now we have no idea when to expect the much-anticipated remake of the 2003 classic.
The game’s official Twitter account shared the following statement:
Ubisoft launched Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in October 2003 and it became an instant classic thanks to its revolutionary parkour-style platforming (later adopted in Assassin’s Creed and countless other games), time manipulation mechanics, and charming narrative. The game was so beloved that it even got a live-action film starring (for some reason) Jake Gyllenhaal.
The remake, helmed by Ubisoft India, aims to retain Sands of Time’s gameplay but with contemporary tweaks, which includes a modernized (and optional) control scheme. The CG cutscenes are being remastered, and the game’s dialogue re-recorded using the original voice cast. That all sounds great, but the one thing fans seem to be universally iffy on is the graphics.
While it does look much sharper, Sands of Time Remake isn’t the graphical overhaul many fans hoped or expected (especially compared to, say, the recent Resident Evil remakes). Ubisoft addressed these criticisms by saying the presentation is an artistic choice meant to emphasize Prince of Persia’s fantastical vibe as opposed to other remakes as well as the publisher’s more realistically designed offerings such as Assassin’s Creed. Still, fans continue to object to the game’s look, so it’s possible this new delay has something to do with Ubisoft caving in to rehaul the graphics a bit more.
I'm a big Prince of Persia fan so this latest delay stings, but if it ensures a better product, by all means go for it. Whenever Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is released, it’ll come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. New-gen specific versions were originally up the air, but that could very well change thanks to the delay. I guess only time will tell.
