Returnal, Housemarque’s time-looping third-person roguelike, needs a bit more time to come together. The developer announced this morning that the game will now launch April 30. Returnal was originally scheduled to arrive March 19.
PlayStation UK tweeted the news, explaining the delay is simply an issue of allowing more time to polish Returnal.
Update: Returnal has a new release date of April 30, 2021.

SIE and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque. See you in April! pic.twitter.com/KaE0hL8S4E
Taking time to ensure a game performs well at launch is always welcomed news, especially given Returnal is among the first PlayStation 5 exclusive titles. There are a lot of PS5 owners eager for more experiences that take full advantage of the hardware, so there’s probably a bit of added pressure in making sure the game is up to snuff.
Returnal centers on an astronaut named Selene, who crashes on a hostile alien planet. She also discovers that she’s now trapped in a Groundhog Day-style time loop; every time she dies, she reawakens at the moment of the crash and relives events anew. Unlike Housemarque’s previous arcade-style offerings like Resogun and Nex Machina, Returnal is a blockbuster third-person action game with roguelike progression. Each loop resets players’ weapons and inventory, forcing them to experiment with new combinations of builds each run. Players must survive long enough to uncover the planet's mysteries, break the time loop, and, hopefully, escape. We’re looking forward to Returnal (Andrew Reiner especially), so while we won’t get to play it as soon as we hoped, we’re always down for making a game better if it needs the TLC. And if nothing else, the delay allows more time to clear out our backlogs beforehand. While we’re on the subject of delays, Returnal is far from alone. In January alone, The Lord of the Rings – Gollum, Outriders, Hogwarts Legacy, Riders Republic, and even 2022's Pragmata have also been pushed back.
Jeanette Maus has donned many roles but most recently, she set the internet alight with her bloody charm in a new trailer for Resident Evil Village. It is with a somber heart that we report that Maus has passed away at the young age of 39.
Capcom broke the news to the gaming community, with an image of her character in Village and the following caption:
"We here at Capcom R&D 1 are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Jeanette Maus, the talented actress who helped bring several different characters, including our witches to the world in Resident Evil Village. Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones."

THR reports that Maus passed away due to an ongoing eight-month-long battle with colon cancer on Sunday night, January 24.
"Jeanette was truly an artist and felt truly grateful to live as an artist," reads a statement from John Rosenfeld Studios, where she taught and mentored young actors. "She had an indomitable spirit and was hungry to be the best person, the best teacher, the best friend, and the best actor she could be. The world lost a force of nature, and we will be feeling that for a long time."
In addition to teaching and mentoring young hopefuls, she enjoyed a career in film and television, including an upcoming show called Stellar People and previous credits including Those Guys, Charm City Kings, Snuggle Party, Dismissed, and more.
We would like to offer our sincerest condolences to Maus' family and her loved ones during their time of loss. She was an incredible talent and will be sorely missed.

Update: Sega has provided Game Informer with a comment on the departure of Roger Craig Smith. You can see the statement in its entirety below.
Roger Craig Smith’s portrayal of Sonic the Hedgehog is one that fans are sure to remember for generations to come. He brought the character to life in a truly authentic way, with Sonic’s signature attitude and flair, and we’ll always be thankful to Roger for his contribution to the franchise.Original Story – 1/28/2021 @ 10:42 a.m. CT
Roger Craig Smith is far from the first voice actor to assume the role of Sonic the Hedgehog, but he very well may be the most iconic. Sure, Jaleel White will always have a special place in the hearts of '90s kids and Ben Schwartz recently assumed the role in the live-action theatrical film, but ever since 2010's Sonic Free Riders and Sonic Colors, Smith has delivered the iconic voice of the Blue Blur across myriad media. Now, the prolific voice actor has posted on social media that he is stepping away from the role.
Smith has served as the voice actor of Sonic the Hedgehog in roles spanning not only video games, but television and movies as well. In addition to voicing Sonic in games like Sonic Forces, Lego Dimensions, Team Sonic Racing, Sonic Generations, and the Super Smash Bros. series, Smith has also performed the role in the Sonic Boom animated series, as well as both Wreck-It Ralph films. Outside of the role of Sonic, Smith is best known for his work as Ezio in the Assassin's Creed franchise, Chris Redfield in the Resident Evil series, Captain America in various Marvel projects, and Batman in Batman: Arkham Origins.
"Welp, 10 years was an amazing run," Smith said in a tweet this morning. "Onward to new zones! Much love to the fans who've been so kind. ? It's been an honor. ?"
The announcement comes during a year that is theorized to be a big one for the Sonic the Hedgehog series. 2021 serves as the 30th anniversary of Sega's flagship franchise, and fans are expecting announcements to celebrate the occasion. Traditionally, the Sonic franchise has made major announcements or released tentpole games during its milestone anniversaries; Sonic Adventure 2 hit Dreamcast during the series' 10th anniversary, Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) was meant to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary, and both Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces were announced during a 25th anniversary party at San Diego Comic-Con in 2016. While we still don't know what (if anything) Sega and Sonic Team have planned for Sonic's 30th anniversary, having a fan favorite step away from the lead role is likely not what most people had in mind as a way to kick things off.
We have reached out to Sega and Sonic Team for comment but we did not immediately receive a response. We will update this story if we receive comment.

Gamers have been modding Cyberpunk 2077 since the title launched late last year but now that there is official mod support from CD Projekt Red, fans are going wild with the possibilities. That being said, CDPR doesn't want players getting too wild. To jump ahead of the inevitable curve after one mod gained insurmountable popularity, the studio has banned mods that allow for V to have sex with Keanu Reeves' character Johnny Silverhand.
As expected (rule 34, anyone?), the inevitable nude and romance mods have hit the world of Night City, including one that uses cut content to piece together a fully voiced Judy romance for a Male V. Another mod soon followed after, created by modder Catmino, that allowed for players to tweak the in-game textures with other models in order to have sex with virtually whoever they want. Included in that is Keanu Reeves' character, texturizing the rocker bad boy onto a sex robot named Joytoy.
Making a change like that wasn't hard, there are canon scenes within the game starring Silverhand that are incredible sexual in nature, so making that jump through retextures is something that was going to happen. But just because it was bound to happen doesn't mean that the studio is happy about it (and not just because it's just a bad mod, the scene has Keanu's face but Joytoy's voice and it's just nine shades of awkward).
Click here to watch embedded mediaThe Joytoy tweak in question was only up for a short while before Eurogamer noticed it was removed from Nexus Mods with the "clearing things out with CDPR" update where the mod used to be. As for why it was removed, the studio issued the following statement to PC Gamer:
"Our most important rule regarding user-generated content, game mods in particular, is that it can’t be harmful towards others. In the case of model swaps, especially those that involve explicit situations, it can be perceived as such by the people who lent us their appearance for the purpose of creating characters in Cyberpunk 2077.
"Therefore, when making fan content, creators have to make sure they’ve got permission from all the concerned parties (which might be people other than CD Projekt Red). For the characters we’ve invented for the game, we broadly permit you to tweak the game at will and just have fun. When it comes to models of real people whom we’ve asked to participate in the game, we kindly ask you to refrain from using them in any situation that might be found offensive if you don’t have their explicit permission."
