Apex Legends releases a trailer celebrating the game's 2nd anniversary and announcing an anniversary event with special cosmetics and much more.

Apex Legends is going to be getting a lot more new content in the coming weeks, including new cosmetics and a returning playlist. Apex Legends Season 8 just kicked off and fans are already causing mayhem with the new Legend, Fuse, and testing out the capabilities of the new 30-30 Repeater.

Now, Respawn has revealed a brand new event kicking off right after Season 8's arrival to celebrate Apex Legend's 2nd anniversary. Respawn just released a trailer showing off the Apex Legends Collection Anniversary event, which sees a plethora of slick anniversary skins, returning fan-favorite cosmetics, and the return of the Locked and Loaded Playlist takeover.

The trailer is shown from the point of view of everyone's favorite narcissist, Mirage, who's going over an anniversary slideshow he created. While Mirage is providing excellent color commentary on the various images shown on screen, Crypto hacks the feed to show some footage of the new event. The Anniversary Collection Event was leaked early thanks to prize trackers found within the game's code, so players had a basic idea of what the event entailed before this trailer released. It seems the event mainly serves as a celebration of Apex Legend's past two years, offering a special anniversary skin for each Legend in the game, save for some of the later additions like Rampart, Horizon, and Fuse.

Players can jump into the event starting on February 9 for the chance to earn free rewards. Some of the cosmetics included in the event include epic weapon skins, weapon charms, an anniversary holo spray, and special stat trackers. Overall, the reward tracker features a total of 22 earnable items, including two legendary Event Packs and ten Apex packs. Finally, should players earn all 22 items, the will be able to unlock an heirloom of their choice.

It's unclear how long the event will run, but it's probably safe to assume the event will be around for at least a couple weeks. Seeing as the Apex Legends Nintendo Switch port releases on March 9, it would be great if new players on Switch could hop into the fun as well. It's exciting that, along with the new content and changes introduced recently at the start of Season 8, players will have even more new and returning content to look forward to so soon.

This will also most likely be a lot of new players first ever in-game event, considering Apex Legends' player count has been growing in recent weeks and continues to steadily climb. Those new players will get the chance to earn some skins that have since left the game's loot pool, while veteran player's who may have missed them the first time will also have the chance to pick them up this time around. All in all, this event couldn't have come at a better time and seems like a great way to celebrate Apex Legend's 2nd anniversary.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and will release for the Switch on March 9.
