Apex Legends leaks a new piece of equipment that may be added next patch, which will enable players to level shields up faster.

Reliable Apex Legends leaker "Shrugtal" revealed a new piece of equipment that could be coming to the battle royale during the next patch. Apex Legends Season 8 has just started up with the destruction of King's Canyon and the introduction of the new legend Fuse. With the second Anniversary Collection event said to be right around the corner, the patch that comes with it may feature some new items.

Starting with Season 8, a number of guns and attachments were changed that tweak Apex Legends' gameplay quite a bit. Respawn Entertainment removed the Double Tap hop-up, which would increase the EVA-8 and the Scout's fire rate to two shots per trigger pull. The Anvil Receiver has also returned, giving the R301 and the Flatline more damage output for semi-automatic shots at the cost of more ammo used.

However, a new hop-up may be coming to the game that will make gameplay very interesting. An Armorsmith hop-up will be able to attach to the RE-45 or the Alternator to level shields up faster. Although it is not known what rate players' shields will be able to level up at, the hop-up would essentially lower the amount of damage needed to level up an EVO-Shield.

Unlike the Disrupter Rounds hop-up that has been featured in the game, the Armorsmith hop-up would not change how much damage players would do to enemy shields, so the new equipment addition could be seen as almost the opposite of the Disrupter Rounds hop-up.

The patch also may bring some changes to characters. One Respawn developer responded to a Reddit thread saying that Caustic may be nerfed further. At the start of Season 8, Caustic received a minimal nerf, with his gas no longer lingering after the player team has been eliminated. While it is a good addition, many fans are calling for a nerf since his abilities are so offensively powered. Caustic was scheduled for a nerf during Season 7, but was replaced at the last second due to fan backlash.

It is possible the patch is launched with the Anniversary Collection event, but rumors also point to March 2 as the day when Apex Legends will update with the patch and a new event or Town Takeover. The game previously leaked a Caustic Town Takeover, so it may be a little unfortunate for Caustic mains to have a Town Takeover along with a nerf. If the patch does launch at that time, the Armorsmith hop-up may become the newest piece of equipment.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and releases for Nintendo Switch on March 9.
