With the cast of Apex Legends growing in size, one Japanese dance troupe decided to recreate the game's character selection process.

Character selection screens are one of the most crucial, yet criminally overlooked, aspects of competitive games. Picking a character for an upcoming match is an important decision based on numerous factors from gameplay style to even the character's personality. With Apex Legends boasting a growing and unique roster, it definitely has the character selection screen up to standard. The selection process for picking one of Apex Legends' many heroes has ever inspired an impressive recreation effort.

Japanese dance troupe Monster Hunter Dancers were so impressed with how Apex Legends handles character selection that they opted to pay their own form of homage. In the two and a half minute video uploaded on the group's official YouTube channel, the first 30 seconds are dedicated to getting the intros just right. Once the character selection process is out of the way, the crew do what they do best and break into dance. To cap off the video, Monster Hunter Dancers show a bit of the behind the scenes fun in making it all come to life.

The characters chosen for the team-based "Dance Royale" are Pathfinder, Octane, and Wraith. These introductions are not just the quick character animation, but the entire process for starting up a round of developer Respawn Entertainment's successful Battle Royale game. This includes the confirmation time as the dancers pause in position after the initial animation is done. It makes what would have been a cute little video into something that demonstrates a genuine love for the game.

Since Monster Hunter Dancers are from Japan, they opt to use their localized versions of the character intros. This means that the Apex Legends' English voice actors like Fryda Wolf, Johnny Young, and Nicolas Roye don't have the luck of having their voices dubbed over the stylish recreations. While this may be a bit a disappointment for Western fans, the Japanese voice cast definitely capture the personalities that players are familiar with.

This new video from Monster Hunter Dancers comes just after the launch of Apex Legends Season 8 which has seen a big shakeup to the title. Despite it just being days since the Season 8 update hit all versions of the game, fans are already trying to figure out the new Apex Legends tier list. It will take time before players fully grasp the changes to the characters and how they will play as the season progresses.

What many players are most focused on is the introduction of new character Fuse. Should his popularity grow, he may be the next character selected by Monster Hunter Dancers to join in on the team based dance battles.

Apex Legends is on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version releasing on March 9.
