Destiny 2's Grandmaster Nightfalls are a huge challenge, and Bungie reveals when they're returning along with a few details and tips.

Up until two weeks ago, nearly all of the endgame PvE activities in Destiny 2 were virtually locked behind difficult mechanics and tough bosses. That is, until the discovery of a 12-man glitch rendered many of them moot, as Guardians took to their clans and Discord channels to tackle the various in-game activities. Although there's less than a week until the next set of patches ends the incredibly fun bug, Bungie is also bringing back Destiny 2's extremely difficult Grandmaster Nightfalls.

Not much has changed from previous Grandmaster Nightfall strike releases, save for the increase in power level. Strike difficulty is set at 1350 Power and has Content Mode enabled, capping any Guardian's power level at 25 less than that, 1325. It also comes with specific modifiers as well as additional challenges. As before, one Grandmaster Nightfall is available each week until April 20th, at which point all of them become available through a direct launch playlist.

More interestingly, this season marks the first season wherein Guardians can earn Adept weapons through PvE activities. Veteran Destiny 2 players may remember the prominence of Adept weapons back in Destiny 1, and more recently, in Destiny 2's current Trials of Osiris. Bungie has mentioned making Adept weapons available for those more PvE focused, so it's great to see that the company is coming through on some past promises.

Adept weapons are particularly useful in other endgame PvE activities and work similarly to other Masterworked weapons. They gain additional stat bonuses and have the ability to be socketed with Adept weapon mods, such as "Adept range (+10 range)". Like Trials, the mods can be earned through Grandmaster Nightfalls as well. The return of the extremely difficult mode also introduces the opportunity for any hardcore Guardians to earn a Gilded version of the Conqueror title.

Grandmaster Nightfalls may never see more than three Guardians at a time, although the most recent line-up of seasonal Destiny 2 mods gives players an edge that may make the endgame activities a breeze. Even so, any players taking on the activity should double and triple check their builds and play with extreme caution, especially if the "Extinguish" modifier makes an appearance.

Regarding the current mod system, the team over at Bungie most recently announced that it was looking into the problem of mod availability from Banshee-44. The vendor has offered an insurmountable number of mods over the years, with the inconsistent rotation making the retrieval of specific ones a chore for many Destiny 2 players.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
