One of Fortnite Season 5's most sought-after cosmetics, the back bling of The Mandalorian's Baby Yoda, has an unfortunate gameplay-affecting bug.

If there’s one thing two seasons of The Mandalorian have taught fans, it’s that Baby Yoda, for all his adorableness, tends to attract trouble for his caretakers. And as it turns out, this is true even outside the Star Wars franchise, because Fortnite players are reporting that the little green alien is causing trouble for them in-game.

The ongoing fifth season of Fortnite Chapter 2 has offered plenty of fanservice for fans of the popular Disney+ series, with one of the game’s latest crossovers bringing in a number of Mandalorian-themed skins, weapons, and map additions. Naturally, one of the most sought-after of these has been “The Child” himself. Upon completing Season 5’s battle pass, players can unlock a back bling of Baby Yoda (or Grogu, to use his official name), allowing players to loot, shoot, and build while the 50-year-old infant follows them in his floating pram.

Season 5 has been going on for several weeks now, so plenty of players are starting to complete the battle pass and unlock Baby Yoda by this point. This means, however, that players are now starting to take notice of an annoying issue with the back bling that’s causing Baby Yoda to block players’ views and prevent them from being able to aim properly.

It’s not exactly clear what’s causing the bug, but players have reported that crouching and entering and exiting vehicles causes Baby Yoda’s pram to become static, meaning it doesn’t move out of the way for the camera when players aim down sights. The result, as illustrated in a popular clip shared by Reddit user SweggyBoi, is that the floating metal egg ends up covering half the screen while the player aims, obscuring their reticle in the process.

This follows a bit of a tumultuous time for the game’s cosmetic items. In recent weeks, players have accused multiple Fortnite skins of being “pay to win” due to a number of gameplay advantages they inadvertently provide. Now, though, players are accusing Baby Yoda of being the opposite, with more than a few replies to SweggyBoi’s video calling the back bling “pay to lose.”

It’s understandable that players are frustrated. Not only does this issue interfere with gameplay, it takes away from the fun of playing Fortnite with Baby Yoda, arguably the biggest addition to Star Wars in years, at one’s side. Luckily, it seems Epic Games is aware of the problem, according to a company employee that responded to SweggyBoi’s post, so with any luck, this bug will be resolved before Season 5 wraps up in two months’ time.

Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
