Epic Games has partnered with over 20 of the world's biggest soccer clubs, as well as Brazilian superstar Pelé, to help bring the sport to Fortnite.

Though Fortnite's most popular gameplay mode has always been the battle royale, Epic Games has offered alternatives in the past. Last month, it included a limited Spy Within mode, which bore more than a few similarities to Among Us.

Now it's adding the sport of soccer (or football as it's called in the UK) to Fortnite. And not just with a new mode, but new skins as well. The update, which is scheduled for January 23, doesn't include skins of specific soccer players, but rather soccer kits from 23 of the world's biggest clubs.

Players can choose one of ten different outfit variants so that they may represent their favorite club. As for which clubs are included, they are:

  • AC Milan
  • AS Roma
  • Atlanta United FC
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Celtic FC
  • Cerezo Osaka
  • EC Bahia
  • FC Schalke 04
  • Inter Milan
  • Juventus
  • Los Angeles FC
  • Manchester City FC
  • Melbourne City FC
  • Rangers FC
  • Santos FC
  • Seattle Sounders FC
  • Sevilla FC
  • Sporting CP
  • Sydney FC
  • VFL Wolfsburg
  • West Ham United FC
  • Western Sydney Wanderers
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers FC

Former Brazilian player Pelé, who is regarded as one of the best soccer players in the world, has also lent his Victory Royale celebration as a new emote, which will be available on January 23 as well. However, fans have the chance to unlock an outfit and the emote by participating in the Pelé Cup tournament Epic is running on January 20. Players who perform particularly well will also get the chance to win a customized shirt.

Lastly, Epic is releasing a new Creative Island that lets fans just play a game of soccer, albeit one that allows the use of pickaxes and power-ups. Games are 4v4 and consist of two rounds, with the winning teams going into the second round to compete for first, while the other two play for third place. Epic doesn't mention how long the island will be available or if it will be a permanent fixture, but it does essentially make Fortnite an alternative to playing FIFA, in case some fans have grown tired of the latter.

While this is another big pull for Fortnite, those uninterested in soccer are likely more focused on the upcoming Predator skin. Epic has been teasing its inclusion as of late and a new set of missions has already been discovered. It's not yet known if players need to clear all of them to unlock the skin, though it's expected to become available on January 20.

And though fans are still in the midst of Season 5, dataminers are searching for potential hints of what's to come in Season 6. So far, Epic could be bringing back some old vehicles and may even be testing weapon mods.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
